Crema's Take
“Tucked into the back of Paperbacks Ink bookstore, this cozy deli is a genuine Philly transplant serving massive, lovingly crafted Italian hoagies that taste like home to Jersey natives and Philadelphia regulars alike. The real magic here is Nehemiah's genuine hospitality and the kind of personalized service that makes you feel welcomed—whether you're ordering a custom sub with extra mayo or settling in for hours with a book and a slow coffee. It's the rare kind of neighborhood spot where great food, fair prices, and real human connection come together naturally.”

Such a cute little deli in the back of a book store! The sandwich was phenomenal, but Nehemiah's service and hospitality was even more commendable! Great service and great prices! I definitely plan to make a trip back when I'm in the area!
Spent the day exploring Newport News and found the cutest bookstore in town and to find this amazing gem located right inside was perfect. The smells captured our interest. So glad we stopped and had lunch here
Amazing hoagies as a south jersey native and Philly regular, this tastes like home! My dad would’ve loved this place! Hoagies the size of your arm, one fed my family! And great service and prices! Highly recommend!
One of the best Italian subs I’ve had in a long time. I always ask for extra mayo on my subs and still need more but they understand the assignment when you say extra mayo! the only “critique” that I would give is that I wish they were toasted but that’s nothing to keep me from coming back! 10/10 recommend
Hidden in the back of a book store (Paperbacks Ink) is one of the most delicious secrets of Newport News. This deli has great sandwiches, custom made for you when you order, full of so many delicious ingredients that a six inch hoagie will easily fill you up for two meals. The staff is super friendly, and the ambiance inside of the book store is extra cozy. Not only are the sandwiches great, but the chicken salad is developing a cult following amongst the employees of nearby stores in the strip mall. Come by for lunch, because unfortunately the book store closes at 5pm, so you can't do dinner here.
