Crema's Take

Tucked into Wayland Square, L'Artisan Cafe & Bakery is a bright, welcoming spot where you can linger over expertly crafted espresso drinks—their flavored iced lattes made with quality Illy beans are a particular standout—while enjoying fresh pastries and thoughtfully prepared breakfast fare. The cozy, laptop-friendly atmosphere makes it ideal for everything from solo coffee breaks to casual meetings with friends, though it's worth noting that pastry quality and pricing seem inconsistent based on customer experiences.

L’Artisan Cafe in Wayland Square is such a gem. The space is cozy, bright, and welcoming—perfect for a relaxed breakfast, brunch, or coffee break. The food is consistently fresh and thoughtfully prepared, with pastries that feel authentically French and absolutely delicious. Their coffee is smooth and well-balanced, and the service is friendly without feeling rushed. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to linger a little longer and soak in the neighborhood vibe.

Stopped in on a weekday to pick up a couple desserts to go. I ordered a slice of red velvet loaf cake and what I was told was pistachio cheesecake. I would not describe what I got as cheesecake and it had no discernible pistachio taste. Both the top layer of the cheesecake and the red velvet had a terrible aftertaste to them. They might have good drinks or breakfast/lunch items but I’m never stopping here for dessert again.

I love this café so much. The pastries are good, but the coffee is amazing—especially their flavored iced lattes. They use Illy coffee and espresso, which is perfect for lattes because you can really taste the espresso without any bitterness, and the flavors are never overly sweet.

If I could give 0 stars, I would have. 5 pieces of pastry cost $40. Pastry was disgusting. I expected fresh, delicious pastry. I think one piece tasted freezer burnt and the others tasted old. One piece was ok, but for the price, it was just so disappointing and I love sweets. Even my granddaughter didn't like it. I called and all I got was, "I will let my boss know". Last visit here.

Excellent place to go grab a salad/snack/sandwich and a coffee. I've had the lattes and the cappuccinos, which were both 10 out of 10 stars. The food options are vast, and everything is SO fresh. As you can see from my picture, the patio area is a very nice spot to hang out during the day.
