Crema's Take

Honeybee Coffee Co. wins hearts with its industrial-chic atmosphere and genuinely memorable baristas who treat regulars like old friends, though consistency with the actual coffee can be hit-or-miss. This Knoxville spot shines as a community gathering place for studying, hanging out, and catching up with family, even if some customers find themselves returning for the vibes and people rather than perfectly executed specialty drinks.

How do you sell coffee but not offer lids for to-go cups? After I got my drink, I tried multiple lids thinking I was doing something wrong. When I went back to ask, I was told they could “put it into two smaller cups because they are out of lids”. At that point, I just asked for a completely different drink so I could get a cup with an actual lid. Terrible experience.

One of my family's favorite get-together spots. Baristas are so cool and sweet 🙃 They usually even remember my mother's go-to coffee haha. I've gone here to study, to hang out, and even on multiple birthdays. I love the brown sugar iced latte and the breakfast burritos.

Ah I would love this place if it was more consistent. Second time this week the first time our coffee was on point with size and technique. Second time we got a 10oz decaf cappuccino but it was in an espresso size cup with no handle making it hard for my little one to hold. But still charged us 4.5 Our lattes were half foam…and luke warm instead of extra hot. Service was great but it will be hard to vouch for it till I see consistency.

This was my first time visiting Honeybee Coffee Co! The industrial design and elements, such as the light fixtures, adds a cool and unique touch to the atmosphere. I was especially impressed by the roastery room available for customers to view as beans are roasted in house! Unfortunately, when I arrived there were none roasting, but I’d love to come by again to watch the process. There was also an outdoor patio that I plan on checking out next time I visit. Looking at the menu, although there were some seasonal options available, the overall selection was pretty limited. From the financial perspective of the company, I can understand there are probably multiple reasons why a limited menu is helpful. However, I would’ve loved to see more options for add-on’s such as syrups or a wider selection of alternative milks. I ended up ordering an iced latte with brown sugar and macadamia nut milk. It was delicious! I will for sure be back to this shop when I’m in town.

I now only go here for the ambiance. The coffee is not the best here. I recently got a cold brew that resembled more a tea than a cold brew. Was told this is the standard way the drink gets made, color was light and tasted exactly how it looks. I hope they improve in the future, as the location is convenient and I like supporting small businesses.
