Crema's Take
“This San Francisco tea destination stands out for its genuinely knowledgeable staff who treat tastings like unhurried conversations rather than sales pitches, with reviewers raving about people like Chris and Kenny who offer creative flavor comparisons and honest recommendations. What keeps customers coming back isn't just the impressive variety of traditional and specialty teas—it's the welcoming atmosphere that invites you to linger for hours, learn something new, and actually connect with the tea itself and the people behind the counter.”

We had a wonderful time learning about the many different kinds of teas with Chris. He was helpful and friendly, and we enjoyed our nearly 2 hours there. We ended up purchasing (Uncle Iroh's favorite) Ginseng tea and a tea set as well! We've just used it at home for the first time today and are so happy with it. Thank you, Vital Tea Leaf, for establishing an amazing community-friendly local spot!
My group of six randomly stopped in before heading to Napa and had a great experience. We learned quite a bit and purchased a few teas after the ZERO pressure free tasting. No frills, yet highly recommended!
Had such a great experience here, Kenny was super humorous and knowledgeable! Even with so many different types of tea, he really knew his stuff and gave honest recommendations. The shop offers a huge variety of teas and even sells beautiful tea accessories. The interior is very clean and well-kept, making it a really comfortable spot to hang out. My group ended up spending almost two hours just trying different teas! Definitely a solid tea spot in Chinatown — highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area.
Chris was super knowledgeable and friendly with some of my favorite "tastes like" examples for each of the tea flavors. Tastes like rain clouds on a sunny day. What do you feel about milk in tea? "do you hold a baby out the window?" Thoroughly enjoyed the stop at the end of the secret food tour.
Amazing experience! Stopped by and was checking out some teas and exploring the shop. May invited me to have a seat and try some different teas to find something I might like. She took time to explain what each tea was for and the different benefits. Awesome experience and will definitely return to purchase more tea!
