What a cool place. This literally feels like a ranch: it’s a bit of a trek out of the city. It’s an entire complex with a restaurant, a market, espresso machine, bar, stage for live music and a lawn for seating, a second outside bar and an area for smoking meats. Steve the owner is the nicest, most passionate guy. Checked on us all throughout the evening. I tried the wagyu smashburger and I loved it. It was piping hot which is how a burger needs to be, with a nice bun and delicious meat. Had fries which were also hot and crispy. The Mac and cheese was rich and delicious. I really enjoyed everything. I need to go back for the BBQ next time. A buddy let me try his Wagyu beef jerky from the market and it was addictive. Super thin and easy to eat. On top of all this, they had a band with live acoustic music and it was such a fun atmosphere. When the weather is nice the outdoor space is unbeatable. Even if the weather isn’t nice (like the night I went) the dining area is covered and heated and it was totally pleasant. It sounds like there are weekend cars and coffee events which would be fun to check out. Just wish I lived closer! Shout out to the entire friendly staff including Braden who made me a fantastic old fashioned with local honey, interesting bitters, a floral Japanese whiskey and a grapefruit rind. Outstanding. Can’t wait to return.

Absolutely loved this place! The burger was perfectly juicy and delicious. The staff was warm and welcoming, and the owner was awesome. Definitely a hidden gem worth checking out!

Hoshi means Star in Japanese, and the wonderful, kind owners pay homage to Texas (lone STAR) and Japanese food and culture. The food is incredible (wagyu for the win!), service is impeccable, and the vibes are probably the most welcoming of any restaurant I've been to in recent memory. I drove from north Fort Worth to meet some friends there and it was well worth the hour drive. While sitting there eating my burger that melted in my mouth, I felt like I was on vacation - sitting on a porch with friends, and great live music ( check out Phoenix Lawless). They also have a market inside, and serves as a coffee brewery in the mornings. Hoshi Ranch also host car meet ups there. McKinney: you have a gem of a place in your backyard. Please don't build too many homes or large buildings around this peaceful and fun establishment. I will be making my way back to Hoshi Ranch again !

My friends and I drove out here an hour before closing and were well-received with such great food and hospitality from Steve and his team! We thoroughly enjoyed the double wagyu burger, Japanese bbq grill top set, loaded nachos, and mac n cheese with some local Texan soda and Japanese Kirin lemon tea—the food and ambiance all felt like a home-cooked meal at a family’s house

Went there on the soft opening, tried the brisket and mac and cheese, it was great. Also have a great selection of local pickle, salsa, and BBQ sauce, along with biltong (cured meat) both locally sourced. The frozen meat / sausage section is impressive to say the least. There is also a Japanese BBQ meat selection (grilled table side). The meat selection is vast, and price is very reasonable for premium meat. The artesian coffee is some of the best I have tried. Ample parking, got outdoor seating, live music, outdoor bar, cover seating, and indoor seating. Such an incredible place to visit. Definitely be back for the Japanese BBQ.
