Crema's Take

Bottega Italiana is a genuine Italian corner where illy coffee meets silky, crave-worthy gelato crafted with real care—locals still rhapsodize about flavor combinations like cherry ice cream affogatos and lemon basil scoops years after their first visit. The staff greets you like you're walking into a friend's kitchen rather than a café, offering samples and taking genuine pride in helping you discover your next favorite, whether that's a traditional espresso or a custom hot chocolate moment. It's the kind of cozy, unpretentious spot that rewards both quick morning visits and long afternoon lingerings while you watch Seattle drift by.

Cozy place with great gelato and coffee. They serve “illy” coffee, which is Italian coffee. The staff is super friendly and attentive. Great place for people watching tourists and locals stroll by.

From the moment I walked in, they greeted me with a genuine smile, offered samples, and were patient while I decided on flavors. They clearly take pride in what they do, answered questions about flavors and ingredients, and made great recommendations that did not disappoint. Thank you Susan and Callie

What if I told you the best Afogato in Seattle is also the best hot chocolate that's custom made. Saki at Bottega made us the custom Hot chocolate Afogato with cherry ice cream. It's a must try and kudos to Saki

- lemon basil gelato! - Several years ago, my mom got a pear gelato here since I had a groupon when she came to visit me. She has been talking about the gelato for years. My mom usually doesn't get to eat gelato, but she's not easy to please either. We stopped by here last week, and I was surprised to find many people in line. There wasn't much business back then, but the business is definitely good now with all the tourists visiting them. I've tried the flavors of mango, raspberry, pear, pineapple, and lemon basil. To my surprise, the pear tasted relatively artificial compared to other flavors. I picked lemon basil and pineapple for my two scoops instead. The lemon basil was unique; I enjoyed it way more than the pineapple flavor. I even tried to create something similar at home with basil, lemon, condensed milk, milk, and ice. I didn't have heavy cream at home, so I just did what I could. I rarely get any dessert with lemon or lime since it takes a TON of sugar to make them sweet, but this is one exception. The price here wasn't that good, and it's pretty much tourist price ($7.5 for 2 small scoops).. But if you are a tourist, I think that makes sense lol. I'll come back to try other flavors!
