Crema's Take

Evanston Pour is an espresso-focused café with a lively, social atmosphere that strikes a rare balance between being work-friendly and genuinely welcoming for lingering conversations with friends. Their pastries are a real draw—they sell out quickly—and the espresso is served with real care (mineral water included), though recent management changes have pushed prices noticeably higher. It's the kind of place with ample seating and an energetic vibe that somehow doesn't feel cutthroat about table turnover, making it a solid Evanston spot if you can accept the premium pricing.

I used to love this place - the staff were extremely friendly, the vibe was excellent, and the food good. Unfortunately the place has come under new management and the prices have become insane. A small prepackaged container of penne pasta that should be $7 or less is $11. The food is overall more prepackaged/less fresh and 30% more expensive. They seem to be price gouging and making the place unaffordable for all but the richest patrons. The good folks on their staff also seem to be leaving or thinking about leaving, which makes me wonder how they are being treated. I will have to avoid coming here in the future and I’m sure others will think twice as well when they see the damage to their wallets.

Over $10 for a generic bottle of Kombucha? The prices here are ridiculous, guessing they got bought out or something cause these prices are outrageous even for this area / they weren't always this high. Great interior, kind staff for the pros. Incredibly weird laptop policies, it's odd to not encourage people to stick around in a residential spot. Makes one feel unwelcome at best. The biggest cons are the pricing and the quality of the food. Drinks are ok, I've only had the nonspirited drinks so I can't speak to the alcoholic beverages. But, in regards to the coffee prices - with Bagel Art, Crepe O'Clock and that Solar Cafe all in stone's throw away? You can't get away with those type of prices with all the options so close by. For the pricing alone it's hard to recommend this place given the state of how expensive it is to treat yourself even to a simple tea/coffee.

Excellent espresso, served properly with mineral water, highly recommend. Lots of tables, popular place. I didn't really dig the music but I guess it caters to the liveliness of the joint - it's bar seating offers social opportunities that one would find in an alcohol-based establishment.

I love coming here to sit and catch up with friends! Their pastries are so yummy (if you can snag one they sell out pretty fast throughout the day) and so are their drinks! I normally get a london fog or an iced matcha latte and they're always great! I also love that they're open late and also serve delicious cocktails & zero proof drinks at night. Their outside patio is great to sit at under the string lights if the weather permits. I love that this cafe also supports local artists by hosting an artist by displaying their pieces on the walls for a certain amount of time and also does an opening introduction night for the artist! How amazing to support other local artists. I also love that this cafe is more for connecting with other people where you can't sit and study/work at their tables but you can sit at the bar and study/work so you get the best of both worlds! Can't wait to come back soon!

Good food, beverages, and a decent place to work while still not having ridiculous competition for seating on a weekend? They said it couldn’t be done until coming to Pour! You’ve got a solid selection of pastries to choose from, of which I elected for the ham and cheese croissant as someone who is partial to savory pastries. Chai latte also was quite nice, not too sweet which I appreciated.
