“Oromo Cafe in Bucktown is a cozy gem where creativity meets comfort, whether you're ordering a meticulously crafted espresso drink or stumbling upon an off-menu matcha that becomes unforgettable. Beyond excellent coffee, they've built a welcoming spot for lingering over gluten-free pastries and surprisingly excellent food like omelets, making it equally beloved by pastry enthusiasts and dedicated coffee folks alike. Delicious gluten free treats! I’m not a coffee girlie but I love a good pastry. I honestly don’t remember what the things I got were called, but I sure did scarf those down pretty quickly. I went on the way to the airport. Would definitely go back if I return to Chicago!
This is not on their menu but I’m making a review because it needs to be!! probably one of the best matchas I’ve ever had and it was solely because I couldn’t decide between an horchata espresso drink or a matcha so I asked if I could just get the horchata milk with matcha added and it was gone in less than 5 minutes. The drink next to it was the same order but including the espresso shot as well!
Dined in on a whim and was delightfully surprised! Already looking forward to coming back for food and other beverages. I got the shaken espresso and an omelet (which was gorgeous but I didn't get a photo). Great atmosphere; they even have a little section with small coffee and gift selections.
Oromo Cafe in Bucktown is an absolute gem! The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, with beautiful decor that makes it a perfect spot to relax or catch up with a friend. Their coffee is truly delicious. The specialty drinks, especially anything with house-made nut milks, are a must-try. What really makes Oromo stand out, though, is the warmth of the people. Leyla, the owner, is incredibly sweet and kind. She brings a personal touch to the cafe. It’s clear she takes pride in creating a space that not only serves amazing coffee but also fosters a sense of community. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area!
I wish I discovered this place sooner!! Such a cute little coffee shop, and they had REALLY good drinks & food!! This was the perfect stop for me to grab a bite while studying for a bit. The workers were SUPER kind and nice. They were also very accommodating, making sure about my dietary restrictions, and recommending some drinks when I couldn’t decide. The owner was also around and making sure everything was going okay in the cafe. I didn’t realize this place was Turkish, so I was very delighted to see this and also try some Turkish staples! I had the lentil (mercimek) soup with naan on the side, a spinach & feta borek, and an iced honey lavender latte. All three items were exceptional! Next time I want to try the Turkish coffee and see how it is 😊 I will definitely come back!
