Cafenation Cafe & Roastery
380 Washington St, Watertown, MA
Crema's Take
“This roastery in Watertown punches above its weight with thoughtfully crafted espresso drinks and pour-overs that consistently impress, backed by a kitchen that takes breakfast seriously with hearty bagel sandwiches and surprisingly accommodating dietary options including vegan and gluten-free choices. Beyond the solid coffee fundamentals, what keeps people coming back is the genuinely warm atmosphere and attentive ownership that makes it feel less like a caffeine pit stop and more like a neighborhood gathering spot where someone actually cares if your order is right.”

I do like CafeNation, but I’m frustrated with the service today. Ordered a hot latte for pick up and got an iced latte instead. Ordered a dozen bagels which weren’t given to us at pickup. We had to wait another 15 minutes inside for the bagels that we had originally ordered 30 minutes before arriving. Not a great way to start a Saturday.
The coffee here is good, and the bagel sandwiches here are very hearty. You will not be leaving dissapointed. Also they have fun merch!
I went here today for the first time. I’m vegan and there were lots of options! I got the snickerdoodle cookie and chai muffin (very moist) as well as a pumpkin iced chai. Everything was phenomenal! The chai was sweet which I like but not everyone does so I thought it was worth mentioning. I will definitely be going back!
Brighton needs breakfast nooks and cafes! Cafenation is a good one. I was looking for a cafe in the Brookline/Brighton area that does two things, breakfast sandwiches and gluten free bread, and this was one of the only ones I had ease finding. It is hard to find both, but I get the feeling that Cafenation is good for this. Anyways, I ordered an egg and cheddar breakfast sandwich with double bacon and a small drip coffee. The drip coffee had a strong coffee flavor, and with a small bit of cream, still tasted coffee-like, yayyyy. The sandwich took longer than 10 minutes to make during what appeared to be a slower time, so I left to get something across the street real fast. Upon return, the sandwich was ready for to-go pickup. There are a lot of enjoyable elements of Cafenation! Some of their food items are well reviewed, and the artwork-for-sale blends in with the design of the place. You could also Pay-It-Forward for another customer who may be needing a caffeinated pick-me-up. This adds to the feeling of the potential community. The place is nice, and the time it took to make the sandwich may have been because of I ordered a menu utem with changes (I recognize my impatience in this matter), but the sandwich was delicious, and definitely worth the wait.
I stumbled into this cozy little café on a rainy day without checking Google reviews, which I usually do. I was pleasantly surprised by the warm atmosphere and the friendly owner. The menu offers a nice selection of sandwiches and bagels. I ordered my usual hot caramel latte with oat milk, and it was delicious—not too sweet or over powered by the caramel but just having the underlying notes of it which is exactly what I love.
