Crema's Take
“This beloved Glastonbury bakery is a genuine neighborhood gem where exceptional house-made pastries and breakfast sandwiches like the signature E-BAT truly shine, earning passionate praise from travelers who've explored bakeries across North America. The welcoming, bustling atmosphere strikes that perfect balance between a quick coffee grab and a comfortable spot to linger, with genuinely warm staff who'll happily serve you even as closing time approaches. While their traditional coffee drinks have mixed reviews, the standout baked goods and full breakfast menu make Hartford Baking Co. worth the visit, especially if you're in the area near Trader Joe's.”

Just visited HBC for the first time and was definitely not disappointed. Had the E-BAT, a delicious egg sandwich on fresh brioche roll with bacon, avocado, tomato, and cheddar. Quite nice. Topped it off with their pistachio latte that blows that Seattle based company's version out of the water. Comfy chairs and relaxed atmosphere added to the experience. Thanks, HBC! I'll be back!
I have traveled all over the place in Canada and USA. I have to say Hartford Baking company is one one of if not the best bakery Ive been to. I highly recommend visiting them. The staff are friendly and give honest opinions not what they were told to say like some other places I've gone to. The atmosphere is pleasant, good music, plenty of seating comfortable temperature and lots of lighting
This is a great little spot- found it by accident strategically located next to Trader Joes. It was almost 4pm which was closing time but I was waved right in along with another guy with his son. Saw the previous review about everything put away and the team waiting to close- that was NOT my experience at all late on a Saturday afternoon. Picked up a loaf of 7Grain which was perfect, just the right amount of grains with a great crumb- toasts perfectly too!. I also grabbed a "Magic Bar"- oooey gooey decadence with more of a chocolate graham on the bottom that tasted great. It looks like a fun place to meet friends and hang out too. Will be back for more of those great breads they bake.
Food and pastries are good, and staff are friendly and attentive. However they do not make any syrups or flavouring in house, and I've had some of the worst lattes here, including pumpkin spice. The artificial flavouring is sometimes so strong, I've only been able to stomach a few sips before discarding it. Their matchas, including their seasonal fruity matchas and chocolate based lattes/drinks have been good though, interestingly enough.
Wonderful spot. Employees were warm and courteous. Place was definitely busy with patrons. Almost like a starbucks with people with laptops eating working talking. The food was good too. The reason i took off a star was that I wasnt asked how i want my eggs done and received runny eggs. They did fix a new one but this encroached on my time. Apart from that everything was good
