Cafe Brazil Bakery

Crema's Take
“Café Brazil Bakery brings authentic Brazilian warmth to Hartford with traditional pastries and frituras that taste like they've traveled straight from Rio, paired with rich café com leche that invites you to linger. The space has that rare quality of feeling like a genuine neighborhood gathering spot where the best moments happen over homemade food that feels like a hug, though consistency in service seems to be a work in progress. If you catch them on a good day with the friendly staff front and center, you'll understand why so many locals keep coming back for that slice of Brazil.”

clean; friendly, and the food felt like a big, warm hug. i will be back
We went to pick up a Too Good To Go order and were straight up lied to. They sent us up the street to a location that turned out to be abandoned. If you’re going to start something new on this app, follow the app rules—or don’t do it at all. Don’t take people’s money and send them walking around a dangerous neighborhood for no reason. Completely unprofessional and unsafe.
The service was unwelcoming and disengaged. The servers seemed inexperienced and lacked basic communication skills. This was not a language issue, as I speak both English and Portuguese. The food was average, and there are better coxinhas available just down the street.
We were really excited to visit Café Brazil Bakery after seeing all the great reviews about how nice and welcoming the staff were. Unfortunately, our experience was the complete opposite. When we walked in on September 15th around 8 PM, the staff didn’t seem welcoming at all. We had no issue with the fact that they didn’t speak English — we used Google Translate a couple of times and were happy to work with that. But instead of trying to engage with us, they turned their faces away and acted as if they didn’t want to have a conversation. When I asked about prices for a couple of items, the response was dismissive: “Even if I spoke your language, I wouldn’t be able to tell you prices for all.” I wasn’t asking for all, just a couple. Then, when I tried to ask a follow-up about the flavor of something, they again turned away mid-conversation. It was disappointing and sad to have this experience, especially at a place that looks like it serves great food. Service matters just as much as quality, and this visit left us with a very negative impression.
First time in a Brazilian bakery and the lady upfront was very nice and helped me pick out 2 frituras típicas brasileñas, one chicken and cheese the other ham and cheese with 2 café con leche pequeños. Did not disappoint and I loved the textures and the flavor, super homely environment.
