Hatch: Coffee With a Purpose

Crema's Take
“Tucked inside the South Huntsville Public Library, Hatch pairs thoughtfully crafted coffee with a mission-driven approach and homemade syrups that keep regulars coming back. The welcoming staff creates a uniquely serene atmosphere where you can settle in with a book and a cup, making it feel less like a typical coffee shop and more like a curated retreat—especially beloved by parents seeking a peaceful spot to browse the stacks with their kids. With excellent accessibility, ample parking, and a genuinely warm community vibe, this is the kind of place where the aroma of coffee mingles with the quiet joy of discovery.”

The coffee is okay. I did not try any of the food items. I visited the South Huntsville library location - Hatch is inside this library. It is wheelchair accessible, lots of disabled parking, kid-friendly too. You'll find tutoring sessions happening, crochet or knitting or book sales going on at Hatch and around the library.
Sweet staff. A great place to find a book and smell the aroma of coffee as you read. Great for moms to grab a cup of coffee and get some new books for the kiddos too!
Used to love Hatch and their yummy breakfast sandwiches. Will stop eating there now because the last three times I’ve ordered the food has been a very different quality, so I guess this is their new MO. I paid for extra chili aioli and extra cheese this time because the last two times it came with a minuscule amount and the bagel was extremely dry and didn’t taste fresh. The turkey sausage has become so small is only covers a fourth of the regular sized bagel, and it comes cold every time, as if heated from frozen but not fully. The side of bacon I got was inedible because it was hard as rock (I love crispy bacon, so not that), and the hashbrown was soggy and undercooked. Nothing redeemable about the changes they’ve made here. Unfortunate.
This might’ve been a one-off event and I was just unlucky this visit, but the coffee beans were burnt and therefore extremely bitter and unpleasant in flavor. Given the positive feedback from others in the past, I’d consider trying the coffee again when I visit in the future. The employees are all very nice though!
I love this location nestled in the South Huntsville public library, the ladies that work here brighten my day and their homemade syrups are just so tasty!
