Crema's Take

Nestled in a picturesque shopping center with ocean views, Parakeet Cafe brings genuine warmth and thoughtful details to the Newport Beach coffee scene, from their adorable branding and merchandise to an impressive array of gluten-free options that feel like real choices, not afterthoughts. Their specialty coffee drinks genuinely impress, and while the food is wholesome and generously portioned rather than fancy, standouts like the Green Goddess salad prove they care about quality ingredients—plus a full breakfast menu and pastries make it easy to linger over your drink. It's the kind of place where friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere combine to create those unhurried moments that make you want to come back every single day.

I LOVE Parakeet Cafes! I’ve been to this one and another in San Diego. The decor is darling, and all their merchandise branding is also adorable. Obsessed! I also love all the gluten free options. I love the GF Tuile cookies, and the GF brioche bread is just divine. Kami helped me and she was absolutely lovely! So kind and wonderful to all the customers. She certainly made me feel special!

Located in a beautiful shopping center with ocean views. Food is nothing to be wowed by. They serve healthy portions. Their coffee drinks however are pretty good. They have friendly staff. You order at the register they then bring the food out to your table. Outside tables are limited.

Parakeet Café at Crystal Cove is one of those spots I genuinely wish I could come to every single day. The Green Goddess salad is a standout, loaded with crisp lettuce, a beautiful half avocado, and a generous portion of herb roasted chicken that feels like a solid five ounces and actually keeps you full. The flavors are bright and clean, you can tell they are intentional about being organic and seed oil free, and it all feels both healthy and satisfying rather than “diet food.” The Caesar salad is another favorite and their turmeric lemon vinaigrette is spot on, tangy and refreshing without being heavy. We also ordered the teriyaki chicken bowl which was another win. The combination of arugula over a bed of brown rice with marinated broccoli and chicken hits that sweet spot between comfort and healthy. It is the kind of bowl you could eat on repeat and not get bored, especially with their unique flavor profiles and locally sourced ingredients. This is also a very kid friendly place which makes it even more appealing for regular family visits. Where I land at more of a 4.5 than a full 5 is the overall experience, not the food. The interior vibe is really fun and very on brand for Crystal Cove, but the space feels tight and it is tricky to find seating, especially outside which is really where you want to be in this area. There are often lines out the door and it is not the easiest spot for larger groups. I also wish they offered a true light roast option on the coffee menu. While I appreciate that they use organic milk, I would love more variety on the coffee side. The pastries are solid, about a four star for me, good but not why I come here. I come here for the food, which is excellent.

This place and its workers made my day. I was supposed to meet my best friend to have a mini celebration of my birthday because I don’t really enjoy celebrations. But be could not make it so I was alone. When I requested a birthday candle, the staff found out that it was my birthday and came to me all together to sing a Happy Birthday. It was a long and harsh day but this place made a big difference. They are very nice and have an amazing food so I recommend to try it to everyone! Thank you once again for everything you have done.

Was in town from Detroit and came across this wonderful cafe. Had a wonderful brunch experience that both my wife and me enjoyed. The workers were very nice, friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. We had the chilaquiles, and acai bowl, along with tasty drinks of turmeric latte and protien smoothie. We cant wait to visit again!
