Crema's Take

Paderia Bakehouse is a no-frills Santa Monica spot where the real star is the pastry case and creative specialty drinks—think standout Vietnamese coffee with silky salted foam, iced pistachio lattes, and Portuguese egg tarts so custardy they've earned professor-level devotion. The cookies here are genuinely special, from sea salt chocolate chip to toasted coconut almond joy, though be prepared for premium pricing and parking lot seating that trades atmosphere for authenticity. If you're after quality baked goods and bold, skillfully made coffee drinks over Instagram-worthy surroundings, this casual bakehouse rewards the visit.

This is one of my professors’ favorite places to get Portuguese egg tarts, so obviously my friends and I needed to check it out. I can see why he loves it — the egg tarts are very custardy and rich, with a lightly eggy flavor but the sweetness from heavy cream in each bite contrasting to the flaky crust. We also got the red velvet cheesecake, which was pretty standard. The strawberry and cream cookie was massive and I loved the strawberry flavor! It was a little too sweet for me but for the average American palette is probably perfect. There’s a parking lot but pretty limited seating (that gets a lot of sun), so plan on taking it to go unless you want to casually borrow a table next door…

The prices here are insane. $8 for a latte? Coffee is fine but that's absolutely nuts. There's two or three lawn chairs to sit in outside in a parking lot. There is no atmosphere.

If you’re craving truly standout Vietnamese coffee, this spot delivers in a way that’s hard to forget. The brew has that bold, smooth character you hope for, and the creamy, lightly salted foam on top takes it to another level. Every sip feels balanced and full of flavor, and it definitely packs a kick—in the best way possible. The baked treats here are just as impressive. The cookies have that perfect mix of chewiness and softness, and they taste even better warmed up. The chocolate and peanut butter one has quickly become a go-to treat. And if you’re into drinks that lean a little sweet, the raspberry matcha is absolutely worth trying. It’s refreshing, vibrant, and somehow comforting at the same time. Overall, this place consistently hits the mark—great drinks, great treats, and the kind of quality that makes you want to come back. Highly recommend.

I tried their cookies. The sea salt chocolate chip cookie was decadent but reminded me of the famous cookie at Bristol Farms. The toasted coconut almond joy was delicious. Def recommend that one. This place is strictly takeout.
