Crema's Take

Zabar's Café trades trendy latte art for a straightforward mission: killer nova bagels and deeply satisfying coffee that regulars swear holds its own against any specialty roaster in the city. The classic New York deli counter energy means you're grabbing from a rotating cast of exceptional pastries (the apple strudel and babka are legendary) and breakfast sandwiches that taste like they've been perfected over decades rather than designed by committee. It's the kind of place that feels less like a destination and more like where Upper West Siders actually eat.

What to expect

Classic coffee drinks done right. A quick-grab spot, good for meetings. Full breakfast, pastries, and light food on the menu. Family friendly.

They have the best apple strudel’s and salmon bagel. Also they have very good coffee.

Known for both their Zabar’s classic nova on a bagel of your choice but lots of great items on their menu like the BEC on a Kaiser roll, panini’s, and very solid coffee selection including their Vietnamese cold brew. Big fan of the Vienna roast cold brew as well.

My go to spot on the upper west side for a great bagel and even better Babka.

Super fresh and tasty options. The coffee is fantastic. Not sure why it’s world famous, but I would skip the knish.

I have been here so many times and I just can't remember to take photos of my food. Overall, I love Zabar's. The Nova is the best in the city and I would put the Ameracano against any other that I have tried in the world. 10/10 for everything. Try other menu items and don't…
