The Lodge at Dawn Ranch

We just randomly dropped in for a Steak. Was pleasantly surprised with how fancy this restaurant is. Chip…… Hooked it up, even though we were not part of “The Tasting” Thanks again Chip. 5 Star Service for sure.

We stayed at the hotel, so we ate breakfast and dinner here. We also tried the bar. The restaurant with the tasting menu is exceptional. I would say it was a lot of food as I was very full at the end. Would really recommend and gladly come back when staying here. Breakfast is really good too. We ate everyday of our stay. The service could be improved and was slow sometimes. The croissants are really great which was not something I’d have expected. I also always liked the yogurt granola. Re service, we had breakfast included in our stay, which meant one main and a drink. I tried to substitute a pastry for the main (since pastry is cheaper than main you’d think that’s a no brainer) but that was not allowed. Given price of hotel and being fine dining restaurant I thought that was ridiculous. Bar service. One night we had some wine in the main bar room which was great. Another night we wanted a dessert and sat in the side room and they brought us dessert in a takeaway box. Apparently they don’t do cutlery service in the side room…. I mean fine but ???

Charming restaurant, Great location in the redwoods giving rustic nature vibes. We had such a wonderful dinner here with our friends. The food was fantastic with bold flavors. Gorgeous presentations, very impressed with the fire cooking skills and aromatic depth of each courses. Very nice selections of wine list to offer. Lovely service 10/10 highly a must try experience!!🤎

This review is for the restaurant. High skill, sophisticated cooking. We did the full tasting menu on one night and the pre fix the next. Every dish was delicious; we especially appreciated the excellent sauces that came with most dishes and skillfully blended cultures. The wine list was also great, with the pairing consisting of classics with age rarely seen by the glass (think 2012 Cheval Blanc, 2010 Egon Spätlese, and 2003 d’Yquem). The bottle list contains lots of fun nerdy (if pricey) gems. Compared to tasting menus in San Francisco, this menu is very reasonably priced. We look forward to returning. The only negative was breakfast and bar service. There wasn’t enough staff to handle the crush of people trying to order, resulting in 20-30m lines at the bar to order.

Incredible tasting menu at the Lodge. Every course was fresh, delicious, and creative, and genuinely better than many Michelin restaurants I’ve been to in the past. Amazing service as well. I would go again in a heartbeat!
