Crema's Take

Tucked inside the Swedish American Museum, this cozy café transports you to a quieter world with its relaxed, unhurried atmosphere and genuinely warm staff. Their cardamom buns are legendary around Chicago, and the whole pastry selection—from cinnamon rolls to fresh bread—tastes like it came straight from a Swedish grandmother's kitchen, all at surprisingly reasonable prices. It's the kind of place where you can linger with your coffee, catch up with a friend, or simply watch the world go by while soaking in a bit of Scandinavian charm and history.

I can't believe I've never stopped by this little cafe. It gives off relaxed, casual vibes and offers a quiet place to sip tea/coffee, nom on a Swedish pastry, and watch the world pass you by. I got a cardamom roll and a cinnamon roll--both were delicious! Not overly sugary and delightful, poignant flavors.

Very interesting visit, stories of Swedish immigrants transatlantic crossing and their new life in the flourishing America. Lovely and sweet personnel.

A cozy café tucked inside the Swedish American Museum. Their cardamom buns are an absolute standout - some of the best in Chicago! They also offer a variety of treats, including cinnamon buns, bread pudding, and assorted cookies. The space is charming and inviting, with plenty of seating to enjoy your treats.

I finally stopped inside this newly-remodeled cafe that I walk by almost daily. I bought a nice selection of homemade pastries that were recommended by the lovely woman behind the counter. I enjoyed my treats at a table by the large front window while taking turns people-watching and reading a book. It was nice & quiet, with a table of knitters next to me. I’ll definitely remember this place when I want to gift someone a box of freshly made Swedish cookies!
