Kiss Of Matcha
750 Clement St, San Francisco, CA
Crema's Take
“Kiss of Matcha brings vibrant matcha culture to San Francisco with creative specialty drinks and beautiful aesthetic pastries, though regulars note the quality can be hit-or-miss—sometimes you'll get a perfectly balanced, concentrated matcha latte, other times it tastes watered down or overly sweet. It's a quick grab-and-go spot with minimal seating, best enjoyed when you catch them on a good day and their service is attentive, though consistency and staff friendliness seem to be areas where they struggle.”

Been here a few times and it's been inconsistent. The first time, the matcha was strong but imbalanced with the sugar. The most recent time, my matcha latte tasted like a cup of milk, and looked very white. My friend who ordered the same thing had more depth to her matcha with a bolder/greener color. Interior is usually a bit messy with a funky smell sometimes.
Good matcha drinks here and frozen yogurt. Vanilla yogurt is also available. Not much seating so it’s a pick up and go spot.
The service was lacking, they ran out of cones, and was told the matcha was watery so they could not make it, but they didn't say anything until we went up to them after waiting for awhile. The sesame was good though. The place was small so it's not really a sit down location unless you go at a time where it's completely empty, but even then, there would be people cramming around your to order. Didn't even get to try their matcha so Cafe Maiko at Stonestown is still on my top in terms of quality and parking.
Kiss of Matcha used to be one of my favorite matcha spots, with their fun and aesthetic desserts along with concentrated high-quality matcha and hojicha drinks. The quality is still good, but they really need to up the vibes and do some maintenance. The space is looking borderline run-down and messy, with peeling faded menu posters and a lot of flies loitering around. Drinks start at over $7, which isn't unreasonable in SF, but I shouldn't be seeing this many flies at this price. I hope they renovate and do some cleaning up, because I do really love the hojicha here. (And the bear snout logo is so dam cute)
Dirty cups, rude staff, and poor customer service I spent $36 for four drinks, and one of them was awful — it had strange flavors and even soybean in a green tea drink where it clearly didn’t belong. When I mentioned it, instead of fixing the mistake, they wanted to charge me $2 extra just to make another one. On top of that, I noticed dirty cups being used, which is really concerning. One of the ladies with red hair was extremely rude and unprofessional, making the whole experience even worse. It’s clear Kiss of Matcha doesn’t care about customer satisfaction or cleanliness — only about squeezing out extra money. Definitely not good business. Be careful before spending your money here.
