Crema's Take

Tucked inside the Silverton casino, this lounge captures that sweet spot between Vegas glitter and genuine coziness, with rotating seasonal pop-ups like their playful Bad Elf Christmas bar that blend craft cocktails with interactive games and puzzles. The vibe skews casual and family-friendly rather than pretentious, making it perfect for locals seeking affordable, creative drinks away from the Strip's intensity. Whether you're sipping a signature specialty cocktail or unwinding during a slow afternoon, the welcoming atmosphere and thoughtful seasonal touches make it worth the detour.

Although it's located in a locals casino, I really like the Shady Grove Lounge. It's not a great bar per se, but it's a casual place to grab a cheap drink (they change up their specials often) or hang out and play video poker. It's actually not even that smoky, which is a big plus. Living up to its modern wilderness vibe, there are trees in the bar and an Airstream trailer that hides a mini bowling alley. There's a retro road trip vibe that's surprisingly fun! The best thing about this bar are the holiday pop-ups! A couple of times a year the place gets a full makeover and while the themes sometimes sound a little cooler than they actually are, they're still a blast. During the Christmas season, Shady Grove transforms into the Bad Elf Bar. The place is decked out in thousands of twinkling lights, over-the-top holiday decorations, and loads of cheeky elf vibes. There's a festive cocktails menu but the special drinks are never really that good (so stick with the classics). It's silly and kitschy in the best way, and they really lean into the theme. In the springtime, there has been a fun Alice in Wonderland themed overlay. The decor brings bright flowers, trippy tea party décor, and more themed cocktails that sound a lot more fun than they are in reality. They seem to be getting better every year, and the whimsical quotient is perfect for Instagram! Neither pop-up is life-changing, but they do a great job making the lounge feel fresh and playful, and it's fun to see the space get a total personality swap. Otherwise, this is a solid 3 star bar.

If you’re looking for a Christmas vibe that’s more “cozy family road trip with a hint of Vegas glitter” than “elegant winter wonderland,” look no further than the Shady Grove Lounge at the Silverton. It’s like Santa decided to park his sleigh and have a drink before hitting the strip. First off, let’s talk decor. Shady Grove leans hard into its quirky, retro charm with an Airstream trailer smack in the middle of the bar. Add some twinkling Christmas lights and holiday garland, and suddenly, you’re sipping cocktails in what feels like Clark Griswold’s backyard—if he upgraded to neon signs and leather bar stools. And the drinks? Oh, they’re festive, all right. Nothing says “Christmas cheer” like a spiked eggnog that could knock the reindeer right off Santa’s sleigh. Pair that with a plate of their holiday-themed snacks, and you’ve got yourself a merry little buzz. Now, if you’re into holiday competition, their mini-bowling alley is the perfect place to test your family’s patience. What’s more fun than a Christmas argument over whether Aunt Carol’s gutter ball was really intentional? It’s holiday bonding at its finest.

Decided to check out the MadHatter pop up bar at the Shady Grove Lounge with my mom and husband. Drinks were overpriced and too strong. Food was okay, just typical bar food. Service was great, bartender was attentive and answered all of our questions.

This place does a really cool Christmas pop up called bad elf! Super fun and while you’re having your Christmas cocktails, you can play a little game. Once you solve their game or puzzle, you can enter to win a lottery type thing! You also get a free glass for buying the package! Super fun! It’s also decorated really fun! Try to find all the elves! Also, the bartender was super helpful, very nice, and very fast! Can’t wait to go again next year during Christmas!
