Crema's Take

This intimate San Francisco institution has earned a devoted following over the years with its carefully curated selection of traditional and specialty tea drinks, where flavor choice matters—regulars swear by their High Mountain Oolong and specific boba varieties. Be prepared for the trade-off that comes with popularity: the small space gets crowded and the kitchen moves at its own pace, but longtime patrons consider the quality worth the wait and occasional service quirks.

classic spot. I have been a patron for over 10 years now and I am never disappointed. note that the kitchen is a bit slow and it gets very busy here. popcorn chicken is so tasty, and imo the portion is fair for $7.75 in the city. REMEMBER TO SEASON IT YOURSELF @ THE FRONT! also, sparkling drinks and high mountain oolong are always good

Yikes. I wanted to rate 2/5 based on my experience but my friends who go here a lot insist that it’s good IF YOU CHOOSE THE RIGHT FLAVOR. Key thing is I chose the wrong one I guess (honey lemon green tea with boba). Tasted so artificial and terrible aftertaste- don’t get the honey lemon!! I hate wasting food/drink but I poured that one down the drain. Never again! Because my friends like it so much, I’d try another flavor but only if I’m already going with them- this place hasn’t earned my trust/service based off that one drink yet. Maybe one of the worst bobas I’ve ever had. Very tiny insides, there’s a little counter with some stools to sit on but most people sit just while they’re waiting for their drink and then you take it and go. You can order at counter or at the iPad. If I come back and have a better experience, I’ll edit my review.

Our experience here was extremely disappointing. We arrived and ordered 2 High Mountain Oolong Tea Creama drinks without being informed that all their beverages come with default ice. Surprisingly, we weren't given the choice of having ice or not. When our drinks arrived, we politely requested one without ice, as we weren't aware that all their drinks were served cold. The staff member at the front counter complained about the default cold drinks and questioned how we could have known. We requested the removal of the ice and asked for room temperature drinks. And we have to pay extra $0.50 to remove the ice. She proceeded to the kitchen to fulfill our request. However, when a man emerged from the kitchen with a stern expression and asked us, "What the hell do you want?" in an intimidating tone, it left us feeling genuinely frightened. All we wanted was a room-temperature drink, and amidst the tension, we managed to explain our preference to him. He went back to the kitchen and eventually prepared a room-temperature drink. I can't adequately convey how scared I felt; it was a truly unpleasant experience. I have no intention of returning, and while the drink was acceptable, it was rather bland, almost like water.

Family wanted boba and we checked this place out. Long line outside but was hoping a quick service. Unfortunately, we waited 30 minutes for maybe 14 orders ahead of us. Taro and Oreo boba was really tasty. Just be ready to wait. I’d give 5 starts if the wait wasn’t so long.

Interesting name, and a very small place. Not-very-friendly service. The whole experience was disappointing. We waited about 20 minutes to get our food, and there were only 3 people ahead of us. Don't know how many staff they had, but saw at least two people. The drinks were pretty good, a lot of toppings, and sweetness adjusted to as requested. This is the only place I've seen that charges $0.50 for no ice. So if it's a cold day in SF and I want a drink that's not too cold, I would actually have to pay extra. Of all the snacks, the egg puff stood out, delicious! However, the fried squid sucked, soggy and very chewy. All in all, no plan to visit this place again.
