Crema's Take

Squirrel's Nest is a beloved local breakfast and brunch spot where a tiny kitchen somehow produces impressively ambitious dishes like perfectly seared walleye and medium-rare steaks, all at prices that feel like a steal. The place gets wonderfully packed and buzzy, especially during breakfast hours, with a genuinely friendly staff that keeps the energy warm despite the tight quarters and devoted regulars. Their Bloody Marys are legendarily good (try the spicy "Hot Bottom" if you're feeling it), making this the kind of dive bar gathering spot where you'll want to linger over coffee and conversation.

Very small space inside. I’m sure that’s just part of the vibe. But it was crowded and loud. Waitresses were super friendly and did their best to keep the drinks flowing.

Classic dive bar with great food, friendly service, and a welcoming clientele. Very affordable as well. Highly recommend!

🤩 wow!! I’ve never seen a chef with this much hustle in such a small kitchen. Breakfast was perfect w a medium rare steak 🥩! Walleye option looks legit too. Great staff & super friendly community. Adult Bingo 😂

Great place to eat, great food, friendly fun staff, and probably the best bloody Mary I've had in the area. Marys hot bottom is the spicy bloody Mary I had with a green 19 chaser. My son got the French toast that is breaded in captain crunch and a bacon boat. My wife had the fried walleye, very fresh and nicely fried. I enjoyed the egg breakfast with a side of biscuits and gravy. The smoked bacon had a good level of smoke taste. The hash came with cheese and onion.

A must when you’re in the area. Great local spot with even better prices. Most recently got the Walleye & Eggs for brunch… huge portion and delicious! Also try their French toast. Of course if you’re there later in the day, you have to get the cheese curds!
