Crema's Take
“Nestled in Tempe, this espresso-focused spot has been a neighborhood anchor for years, drawing families back across decades with signature creative drinks like the French Caramel and White Russian Lattes that feel like liquid nostalgia. The Bella Mocha and cinnamon rolls showcase their careful balance—letting quality espresso and chocolate shine through without heavy-handed sweetness—and the old-school coffee shop vibe (pastries, slow sips, genuine conversations) offers a refreshing alternative to the chain experience.”

My family moved to Chandler years ago and I remember when Seattle Espresso opened. We immediately became regulars, loving the French Caramel and White Russian Lattes. We moved across town in 2008, so every so often when we are in the neighborhood we will stop in. Nothing has changed. Great coffees. Great patio seating. Extremely efficient service. And although their employees aren’t as bubbly as Dutch Bros, they are friendly enough. I can go there any day of the week at any time and can expect a great coffee. If they were to sell local (and fresh) pastries, that would give them an extra edge! Just sayin.
Really wanted to like this place. Upon entering the girl behind the counter was just … miserable. No smile, couldn’t make out what’s she’s muttering as the machines drowned her muffled voice out. Coffee were fine hence the 3 start rating but bakery was lacking (seems like dry Costco baked goods) and the atmosphere was somewhat depressing. The lights inside were just dull and everything looked outdated. Unsure how this place is 4.7/5 but out experience was anything but that unfortunately. Will be trying sozo next and hope that’s much better!
I grew up in the area and use to visit all the time with my mom...its probably been 15+ years since I've been in and it brought back great memories walking in here yesterday. The coffee and service has always been incredible! This review was made in connection with a Toast promotion.
Pretty standard coffee shop experience. It reminds me of how coffee shops used to be before they were all chains. They offer typical baked goods like muffins, danishes, pastries… and also had Chobani yogurt and Mush oats. They had a couple of bottled juices and water in the case as well. I ordered a London Fog with almond milk which tasted really good! They did a great job. Nothing was particularly wrong with my visit but it wasn’t outstanding in any way, hence the 4 stars. Seating is squished and service was fast but not personable. I actually used to visit this location semi-regularly about 14 years ago and it felt the same inside as it did back then which is rare nowadays. I met a friend here but I probably wouldn’t seek this place out on purpose in my daily routine. It was fine but lacked ambiance and warmth.
First time trying this coffee house. The Bella Mocha hit the spot. Not too sweet... you can taste the chocolate and espresso easily instead of being overwhelmed with sugar. I tried the cinnamon roll. It was pretty dry, cinnamon not really coming through very well and the icing was super sweet. I felt like it was trying to hide the poor flavor of the actual roll. Little hard to see the location but the stream of people made it ready. Really busy at 8am on a Saturday. Customer service was good. I'll definitely go back when I'm in the neighborhood.
