Crema's Take

Po'ai by Pono Potions is a beloved Honolulu spot where creative, flavor-forward drinks reign supreme—their matcha lattes pull out all the stops with inventive combinations, while their espresso delivers smooth, clean shots without the bitter aftertaste. The space strikes a warm balance between Hawaiiana aesthetics and industrial vibes, staffed by genuinely welcoming baristas who make you feel at home whether you're lingering over work or catching up with friends. With reliable wifi, generous seating, and a thoughtful self-service syrup station, it's the kind of cafe that feels less like a pit stop and more like your favorite island gathering place.

My favorite cafe on island! The staff are all very friendly and welcoming. Great cafe to do work in as they have free Wi-Fi and tons of seating. I loved their seasonal 'ulucha so much!!

delicious, fragrant, and yummy matcha lattes here that pull all the stops when it comes to flavor combinations and variety. loved the alohamora, even though i'm not a lilikoi person, generally. the lime was super refreshing and added a really unique touch. the lavender matcha was tasty, but a tad bit on the basic side. the honey matcha was just the right amount of sweetness! however, the honey latte was bitter and not tasty; it was a struggle for my partner to finish, although he can drink black coffee. my only gripe is that the matchas themselves were more on the watery side. they were crushable, which is amazing, but when it comes to richness, creaminess, and decadence, they fell a little short. that could just be a personal preference, but i prefer to savor my matcha so it being more on the watered down side is not ideal. outside of that, the place was so memorable i came back the next day! and they had some items for sale as well, which was a great touch. i picked up some shmiley shaka stickers and will likely do an order on the syrup to the mainland. :)

Genuinely amazing coffee. I got a vanilla matcha latte and a Haka honey latte. Both were delicious, espresso didn’t have an acidic aftertaste, and matcha was very smooth. Vibe of the baristas were also top tier.

Solid matcha, but the matcha flavor itself could be stronger. I like mines on the sweeter side, so I added simple syrup at their self-service station. Their banana bread is so good & underrated. The baristas are so friendly! I love the interior design & ambiance as well.

This place was a whole vibe; Hawaiiana mets industrial. The service was friendly and all the drinks sound yummy. They have limited food; a few sandwich selection. Small space if you want to work. Street parking or a small dedicated lot right beside. It gets quite busy inside. I will definitely be back.
