Really neat and nice store, good coffee, and the best coffee cake I have ever had. Loved it so much I went back and bought a few pieces to take home with me.

Hi-Plane Coffee is tucked inside UG White Mercantile in Athens and offers a calm, rustic coffee experience that fits the space perfectly. The setup is simple and welcoming, with bar-top seating available if you want to pause for a few minutes, though the overall flow encourages a quick stop rather than lingering. I ordered a 12oz Americano made with medium-roast beans roasted on site, and it showed. The coffee was smooth, clean, and clearly fresh, with none of the harshness you sometimes get from pre-roasted beans. Hi-Plane roasts their coffee in-house and is especially known for their daily coffee cake, which is extremely popular and a staple of the business. The two baristas running the coffee bar during my visit were friendly, helpful, and efficient. This is a great spot to grab a drip coffee or Americano, pick up a bag of freshly roasted beans, and then wander through UG White’s selection of goods. It’s less about meetings or extended sit-downs and more about quality coffee, local craftsmanship, and a relaxed, thoughtfully paced stop. A solid, no-frills coffee experience with excellent beans and a strong local feel.

This place is great! The coffee is amazing, the employees were really nice, and they have fun drinks you can order seasonally. I love that it’s in the old country store!

Wow!... Great coffee and the best ever 'coffee cake' made fresh daily and warmed! (apparently the owners' mother's recipe). It was so good we got a 2nd piece!!

Delicious coffee, sweetest customer service, & most charming atmosphere. A must for a morning wingman!!! (Stole that sweet sentiment from their adorable cups!) We tried the loop de loop latte, dirty chai, & a kids chocolate milk
