Crema's Take

Frida's is a boisterous, vibrant Mexican-inspired brunch destination where the build-your-own omelets and fresh fruit margaritas are just as memorable as the genuinely warm hospitality from staff who'll accommodate your late arrival without hesitation. The energy here skews lively and communal—arrive hungry and ready for a wait, or call ahead to snag a table at what locals consistently praise as one of Evanston's best brunch spots. Come for the creative breakfast plates and creative cocktails, but stay for the authentic, joyful atmosphere that keeps people coming back.

One of the best brunch spots in Evanston! This Mexican-inspired restaurant gets super busy and boisterous, so I recommend reserving a table ahead of time. Every interaction I had with the staff was pleasant, and despite the busyness, they always made sure my needs were attended to. The atmosphere is very lively with classic Latin music playing over the speakers and fun artwork celebrating the restaurant’s namesake, Frida Kahlo. It was hard to choose a single dish with the great variety and numerous recommendations, but I settled on the Crunchy French Toast, which was a spectacular choice! The serving was very large, with four thick slices of brioche bread covered in a granola crust. The plating was gorgeous; the brioche was topped with fresh strawberries, more granola bits, lecherita (a type of sweetened condensed milk), warm raspberry coulis, powdered sugar, and the most velvety whipped cream. It was clear through both the presentation and taste that Frida’s puts plenty of care into their food. The French toast itself was buttery and not too sweet. The granola crust added a wonderful crunch and texture to the soft bread. The whipped cream and strawberries really brought the dish together, adding a creamy chill to the warm toast and natural, fruity sweetness. I will no doubt be returning to try more items on their vast menu. Just observing the other tables’ huge plates inspired my future orders. The pancakes, crepes, and chilaquiles are all highly acclaimed, so it looks like I’ll have to frequent Frida’s for a long time!

1st time here and brunch was delicious! Build your own omelet was amazing but the star was the fresh fruit MARGARITA! Will be back soon.

Good place for brunch! Very authentic and good service with friendly staff. Food was delicious. You might have to wait in line though, as it seems to be a popular spot and gets quite crowded.

Absolutely delicious. Great service, great food, and great atmosphere what more could you ask for. I got the fridas fav burger which was amazing and my wife got the banana strawberry pancakes which were also awesome. Food came out fast and was very fresh. We’ll definitely be back.
