I’ve always liked Belted Goat and have been happy to support them, which is why this visit was disappointing. I ordered the Cobb salad that comes with pulled chicken and asked if they could substitute the pulled chicken with one chicken strip. I’ve done this many times before without any issue, and it’s a simple swap since both items are already on the menu and similarly priced. This time, they refused and said they couldn’t make any modifications. I went over to speak with a manager to explain that this substitution had been done for me many times before. Instead of being open to the conversation, she was dismissive and rude, which really took away from the experience. To make matters worse, they had already run out of desserts only about an hour after opening. It’s unfortunate because the food is generally good and we’ve enjoyed coming here in the past. A little flexibility and courtesy would go a long way. Hopefully this was just an off day, but the way the situation was handled was disappointing

I love The Belted Goat and I love Fearington Village. I’ve been a customer at a number of businesses there. I tend to buy a book and grab something from the big cooler at the Goat. I wouldn’t define it as a coffee shop but I will say when I’m in the mood for something warm and yummy, I have a favorite sandwich or two. The Cheshire Pulled Pork Cubano or Avocado toast with a side of tater tots makes me quite happy. It’s also a great “bodega” of sorts. Super easy to make a gift bag, a hostess gift, or fill up your pantry with tons of unique culinary finds and so much more. Trust me. I’ve lived here long enough to remember it being built!

The Belted Goat is a super FIVE-STAR stop for breakfast, brunch, lunch, grab-and-go bites, or just a fun place to shop! We've eaten here multiple times, and consistency is the rule. Today’s standout: an awesome grilled pimento cheese sandwich with smoked bacon and fried green tomato on home-baked bread—hands down the best pimento cheese sandwich of my life! Sally, who appreciates excellent food, absolutely loved the Wild Harvest Salad: pulled chicken, cauliflower rice, seeds, Medjool dates, and warm Brussels sprouts, all topped with a tangy sherry dressing. A perfect blend of hearty and healthy. We sipped on fresh homemade tea and ended our meal by splitting a rich, homemade dark chocolate brownie—to die for! We’ll definitely be back. SEE PHOTOS!

Wonderful outdoor seating, even a tent so we can be comfortable. The food is delicious. I had the chicken salad with greens. Yummy I would definitely get it again. They are short-staffed, and had problems today with service. That was the only downside. I will go back. I went for lunch today, beautiful day we sat outside. I had the green goddess salad. It was delicious!

This is a niche little place! The environment and the ambiance is beautiful. I ordered the fish and chips and the fries were delicious! The fish could of used more flavor on the batter however the tartar sauce that was provided was delicious! The food is a little price and there is not actual waiter/waitress service. Overall good experience and definitely recommended people to try it.
