Monte Rossa Cafe

I love this place. It's a hidden gem. I tell everyone to go here for coffee when they are downtown, instead of a chain. The coffee is terrific, the prices are amazing, especially for espresso drinks, which can be crazily priced elsewhere. When I've asked for extra shots or something off-menu, they always make sure I'm happy with it before I leave, which I always am. Delicious every time! The cold brew is strong as heck, and they let me know when I ordered it the first time, haha ❤️ I've only had one sandwich & one muffin, but they were both great. The main guy who appears to run the place is the best. Incredibly friendly, kind, cheerful, and really shows how much he cares about the people of this neighborhood. He makes everyone feel like a friend. He shows true interest in conversations with his regulars. I'm not sure how many people work here, but the one other person who has served me is also awesome. The Ying to the owner's Yang. More of a smart Alec, but in the best way. Hilarious, with a heart of gold. It's small. It's not fancy. Not a lot of places to sit, but if you do sit, they don't make you feel rushed. They make you feel welcome. The people, prices & coffee more than make up for the slight lack of "atmosphere", tenfold, and it's very clean.

The best of Portland right here folks. A stop at Rob’s place is a must when in Old Town. Great sandwiches & coffee at affordable prices with above and beyond customer service.

Super cute spot with tasty sandwhiches! Best spot for all of the locals here and a good way to show new people the area of Portland! Come check it out, I got the Italian Sub and rate it 10/10!

Monte Rossa Cafe is a wonderful Old Town/China Town staple for all of us who live and/or work here. The food is quite tasty and affordable. Always made to order. Staff are always welcoming and friendly. One of my favorite spots for lunch.

Hands down my favorite cappuccino of all time! Monte Rossa is a super casual, intimate little gem in old town Chinatown. Everything produced from the coffee drinks, to all the prepared food is of the utmost quality and made with so much love and care. This cafe has been around for 16 years!!! Since COVID, it's currently been run entirely by one man, the incredible cafe owner Rob. It's obvious Rob puts his full heart into making sure he takes care of his people. If you're in the area, stop by, show some love & your support! Your taste buds for sure won't be disappointed. Old town PDX may have taken a hit during the pandemic but there are people in this community who still push onward everyday and inspire without even realizing their positive impact.
