Ponsonby Road Cafe

Nice to get some NZ/Aus food, but it’s not quite right. The sausage rolls are good (though they had fennel which is a bit unusual) the steak pies gravy tasted kind of weird. Also very expensive ($11 pie $7 roll) but I suppose when you can’t get pies elsewhere people are willing to pay a premium.

Nice interior design and delicious coffee. A cozy and welcoming environment. I really like this cafeteria. Well-deserved five stars.

Got Togo. I got the breakfast burrito based on staff recommendation and it’s one of the best I’ve tasted. Def coming back for more and will try other things on the menu. Love the vibes and service. The food can be a lil faster but the taste is worth the wait

Nice little place for a coffee and pie. Coffee wasn't much to write home about and the mince and cheese pie was a little overcooked and dry. Friendly service but not sure I'm rushing to come back!

Steak and cheese savory pie - 5 🌟! Sausage roll - 5 🌟! Coming to LA from Canada means that I had a wee bit of colonial influence on my cuisine since Canada loves some British foods like steak pies and sausage rolls. So every once and a while I get a hankering for some meats in pastry. Ponsonby Road Cafe specializes in the New Zealand take on the savory pastry but I am not savvy enough to know what the New Zealand influence means. The steak and cheese pie was absolutely perfect. The meat was nice and tender. The cheese was melted and gooey. The pastry was very well made. The sausage roll also exceeded my expectations. Nice and flavorful sausage wrapped in well made pastry. The location has good street parking out front so I don't know if they also have a parking but I pulled up right out front. I want to return and sample more of their pies. They had at least eight to choose from the day I was there.
