Lacàphê
740 Story Rd #5, San Jose, CA
Crema's Take
“Lacàphê strikes that sweet spot between approachable and artful, serving smooth, clean coffees alongside creative signature drinks that feel thoughtfully crafted rather than overly complicated. The vibe is fresh and welcoming—recently renovated with genuine hospitality (they're even open on holidays)—making it feel like the kind of neighborhood spot where both coffee newcomers and enthusiasts can find something to enjoy. While their beans lean toward gentle and accessible rather than bold, the consistency and care in preparation shine through in every cup.”

I heard of this place when I was doing an externship at a health clinic last year. So, this is my first time at this place. I decided to come here wanting to treat myself. There was only one kiosk and there was this other customer who was taking a long while. I was thinking of ordering online instead and another customer behind me decided to ordered at the front due to that. I ordered at the kiosk when there's no one there. I ordered their signature drink Lotus with 75% sweetness and a Strawberry Matcha Latte with 75% sweetness as well. Lotus has a floral aftertaste which is not bad, most teas does have a floral aftertaste. It reminds me of the very fragrant white flower. As for the Strawberry Matcha Latte, their Matcha is strong and not overly bitter. It was good. Both of the drinks are good. There were plenty of parking spaces since I went in the morning.
The coffee was served hot and smooth, with a mild flavor that felt simple and easy to drink. The aroma was faint, pleasant but not strong enough to linger. It had a clean finish, though it lacked depth. Overall, it was fine to enjoy but nothing stood out.
Looks like a newly opened store so we want to give it a try! Very yummy drinks! Only small suggestion, I would ask the installation guy to clean up the signs and window more so you see a brand new clean store, the old logo and windows has the old marks still.
This is my review after their renovations. Everything on the menu has gone up by about 50 cents, which might be a small annoyance to some people. However, my main disappointment was with the coffee, it just wasn’t as good as before. I ordered the Eggpresso Hanoi, but it was very underwhelming. The coffee tasted watered down, lacking the strong, rich flavor it used to have. On the bright side, they’ve expanded the space with new seating and tables. The atmosphere is very pretty and aesthetic, and it’s definitely more comfortable to sit and relax now. Still, the coffee was a letdown for me. Personally, I’d prefer the stronger coffee flavor and pricing at Duc Huong Sandwich, since things at Lacaphe have changed quite a bit.
Went here on 4th of July. I was prepared for them to be closed because of the holiday, but to my surprise it was open. I went around 8am and there was already like four people waiting on their drinks. The decor inside is nice with flowers around. The place is small so I would not recommend to hang around. I loved how the menu showed which drinks you are able to get hot. I got the coco freeze and it was just the right amount of coffee and coconut flavored. I am definitely going back and trying their matchas.
