Crema's Take

Backstory Coffee Roasters is a light-filled Minneapolis gem with soaring ceilings and a genuinely welcoming vibe that makes it easy to settle in for hours, whether you're working solo or meeting friends (furry ones included). Their espresso program shines through in creative seasonal drinks like their beloved Lemon Bar Latte and citrus-forward flat whites, paired with a thoughtful pour-over selection and matcha options that go beyond the basics. The space strikes that rare balance of being beautiful and unintimidating—friendly staff, abundant seating including communal work tables, and a quiet-but-lively atmosphere that brings together laptop warriors, dog walkers, and coffee enthusiasts alike.

Super friendly staff. Open, airy, and quiet atmosphere. Lots of people working. Dog friendly. A nice place to relax and work. Stop in if you’re in the area. Their seasonal Lemon Bar Latte is amazing.

One of the most beautiful coffee shops in Minneapolis! I tried their citrus flat white and it was excellent. The staff is super nice and there's tons of seating plus they support their community.

I had a great time visiting this cozy coffee shop for the first time today. The ambiance is wonderful & the lighting is beautiful. We ordered three different drinks & my favorite was their special matcha latte, it was absolutely amazing! The staff was also very friendly. Definitely recommend!

Cozy coffeeshop with high-ceiling and comfortable seatings. There is a big long table that is perfect for work. Drinks and Pastry were good. The line can be long and it was often busy in the weekend. It can be hard for a large group to find seatings.

It was a hard choice to rate this place a 3. But the pastries alone drag it down. If you are a pastry lover, this is not the place. The space itself is really cool. The atmosphere is a young hipster vibe. The coffee is really good. The light in here is amazing, why the plastic plants?
