Mukai Coffeehouse
2051 W Oak St, Bozeman, MT
Crema's Take
“Mukai is a genuinely cozy Bozeman gathering spot where the fireplace, ample seating, and welcoming vibe make it equally suited for solo studying, meetings, or catching up with friends. Their baristas nail the details—they actually listen when you order "half sweet"—and the kitchen delivers on breakfast burritos, massive cinnamon rolls, and hearty biscuit sandwiches that justify the trip beyond just coffee. Just note that recent reviews suggest some inconsistency with menu availability and service, so it's worth calling ahead if you're craving something specific.”

Cute coffee house with plenty of seating and an adorable fireplace. I had the Breakfast burrito and Chai latte combo, and it surpassed my expectations. They were both very tasty! I would definitely recommend and go there again!
Mukai is the coziest, most welcoming, friendly, and productive atmosphere in town. Whether you're working, have to crank through a project, meeting for a bible study, or catching up with a friend, this place provides a perfect blend of focus and warmth. Their chai latte, cinnamon latte, matcha, and hot chocolate are all amazing! This place is such a blessing for people (especially freelancers and those who work remotely)!
Mukai has been my go-to study spot for several years, but recently the quality and service has completely fallen off. Today we went in and tried to order, but nearly half the menu was out of stock. No burritos, no maple or chai drinks, no cream cheese for the bagels, and a limited selection of pastries. We ordered two lattes, and ten minutes later we received one latte which was much hotter than a latte is meant to be, and a drip coffee. We told the barista this was incorrect, and the employees argued with each other about who was supposed to make the drink. Then they asked us if we ordered two drinks... obviously we had. They looked at us as if we were in the wrong. They took another 5 or 6 minutes to make the correct latte. It ended up tasting like water instead of turmeric. This place would absolutely not make it in a large city. They are lucky to be located in a place like Bozeman, which doesn't expect much out of cafes.
We were so excited ti see this was one again, but sadly this new spot doesn’t compare to the last. We got there at 9:30am and they were out of everything except a few bakery items that were not great. My husband got the Ana bread and it was good and tasteless. It looked stale. We’ll definitely try again in the future, hopefully this is simply a matter of teething problems which is understandable. Coffee seems decent, so no complaints there.
The coffee at mukai is awesome! The staff actually does “half sweet” when you say “half sweet”. And that is so hard to find. The biscuit sandwich is so good and the cinnamon rolls are huge and delicious! This is my favorite coffee shop to work at. There is always a table and always an outlet for my laptop. They also have much longer hours than most local coffee shops and I really appreciate that! I’ll keep coming back!
