Crema's Take

This Houston spot has built a devoted following around its thoughtfully balanced specialty drinks like the pistachio cream and beloved ube cloud, where the sweetness and bitterness are dialed in just right. The baristas Colton and Emily are genuinely engaging hosts who take time explaining the menu and pairing drinks with freshly made pastries like their almond and spinach feta croissant, creating an experience that feels personal rather than transactional. It's clearly a place where people linger over conversation and quality coffee, though you'll want to arrive with your own plans if you're hoping to work—the WiFi can be spotty.

The drinks here are so good. So balanced, not too sweet or bitter. I would definitely recommend trying the black forest mocha and the ube cloud drinks. Collin and Emily were super nice and friendly, giving you recommendations based on your taste preference. The environment with all the plants just added the cherry on top.

I stopped by to study since it’s close to home, but this place completely failed the vibe check. The WiFi wasn’t working properly—I couldn’t connect my laptop because it wasn’t a secure network, which is a big security risk (they could easily steal your information on an open connection like that). The matcha was terrible: it was a premade mix (not made fresh in front of me), barely mixed, and took the barista only about 5 seconds to throw together. It tasted off and looked mediocre. Service was unfriendly from the start. When I asked for the WiFi password, the guy was on his phone looking down and responded with an annoyed “Ugh, it’s on the table” — took him forever to even acknowledge me. On top of that, they were blasting loud music, which made it impossible to focus anyway. Everything online makes this spot look cool and inviting, but the reality was the opposite. Social media hype doesn’t match the actual experience. I ended up leaving quickly. It’s getting harder to find genuinely good study spots or coffee places these days—honest reviews are needed. Won’t be back.
