Finagle A Bagel
535 Boylston St, Boston, MA
Crema's Take
“This beloved Boston institution has perfected the art of the casual Saturday morning ritual, drawing regulars back week after week for customizable bagel sandwiches that taste genuinely homemade rather than mass-produced. The no-frills, quick-service vibe makes it ideal for grabbing coffee and breakfast on the fly, though there's also enough outdoor seating if you want to linger and enjoy the simple pleasures of a perfectly toasted bagel with quality cream cheese. What keeps people coming back isn't pretense—it's honest, straightforward food made fresh and served with genuine efficiency.”

Finagle A Bagel is a classic Boston bagel spot that’s been around for decades. The place has a casual, no-frills vibe—perfect for grabbing a quick breakfast or coffee before starting the day. The bagels are the star here. They’re boiled and baked fresh in small batches, which gives them that chewy texture and crisp outside that a good bagel should have. I especially liked the everything bagel with cream cheese, and the smoked salmon sandwich was simple but really satisfying. The menu is pretty big for a bagel shop, with breakfast sandwiches, spreads made in-house, and classic deli-style combinations. Service is quick and efficient, which is great when the morning crowd comes in. Overall, Finagle A Bagel is a solid, traditional breakfast spot in Boston. It’s not fancy, but if you want a fresh bagel and a good start to the day, it definitely hits the spot.
Great local spot in Boston with amazing bagels. Fast service and a nice view too. Simple, quick, and delicious — exactly what you want.
I love how customizable the sandwiches are here. You can really make it exactly how you want, which is why my boyfriend and I come every Saturday morning to grab breakfast before starting our day. The only thing is… definitely double check your order. They almost always miss something. I understand they can be busy, but if you’re paying for extras, they should be included. A few times our sandwiches weren’t toasted enough even when we asked for double toasted, or they came out burned. I’ve also paid for extra eggs multiple times, even up to three eggs, and every single time I still only get one. It’s frustrating to keep paying for add-ons that don’t show up. What makes it harder is that we usually do pickup, so going back to say something isn’t easy. And honestly, it feels unnecessary to open up the sandwich right there and make a mess just to check if the order was done right. Overall it’s a good spot with tasty food and great customization, but the consistency and attention to orders, especially when customers are paying for extras, really needs improvement.
Here’s the deal. Bagels are IT. They are so so good. Your bagels taste like they are from the grocery store, or Costco. Are they?? Do you make them fresh? Please please for the love of god try a new recipe. Go try a bagel at a specialty bagel shop and compare it to yours to see what you’re missing. You’re so close to my office but your bagel is just so mid, but you have serious potential. Please listen.
Service is fast and efficient! Bagels are not too big and they taste good. Cream cheese is good. My son ate the whole bacon, egg, and cheddar on a plain toasted bagel and said it was good. He also ate a whole cinnamon raisen bagel with cream cheese, also good. I really liked my everything bagel with cream cheese bc it was not too garlic-y for breakfast.
