Crema's Take

Patent Coffee's real draw is their entire arsenal of housemade syrups—all free to mix and match—which means you're not just getting coffee, you're getting an invitation to experiment with flavors like fig, cherry, and caramel that actually taste sophisticated rather than syrupy. The small, intimate space and rotating single-origins (their smooth Brazilian drip is worth seeking out) attract people who genuinely care about coffee, and the baristas clearly do too, offering thoughtful recommendations instead of rushing you through. If you've got bar seating patience and love coffee that tastes intentional, this is worth the trip even if it's cramped.

What to expect

Espresso-focused, with creative signature drinks, with a pour-over program, good cold brew. A slow-sit, quick-grab spot, outdoor seating. Pastries on the menu. Open late. Parking available.

Small unassuming spot, really excellent smooth roast and all homemade syrups (big range!) are free which is a bonus. A few bar seats to perch at if you wanna hang out.

I’ve been here for both their bar and coffee, and I really love their coffee beans — they’re so flavorful and smooth. Today, the kind woman working there recommended the vanilla fig - homemade syrup, and wow, it was honestly the best I’ve ever tried. I’m usually not a syrup…

What a lovely surprise. The barista was amazing and I loved chatting with him. We got a very well done espresso and he made us try the Brazilian drip coffee they had on rotation. Not a lot of seats, but definitely a good place to enjoy a lovely espresso.
