Had a iced vanilla latte and it was very good. Server was very friendly. Nice spot to sit outside and relax.
Looking for a local coffee spot and patisserie? Il Sogno is the choice du jour! Whether sitting alone, with a group of friends socializing, or with your laptop, this quant spot oozes with charm and old world character. Great coffee, pastries, quiche, and pastries. The coldness of the modern world fades away once you step into this gem of a place.
As a local, I was excited to finally give this place a try. Before going in, I had read several reviews mentioning the owner’s condescending and disrespectful demeanor. I prefer not to judge based on others’ experiences, so I decided to see for myself. Unfortunately, my experience reflected exactly what I had read. Due to a nut allergy, I asked which items would be safe. Instead of a helpful response, I was told—rudely and in a condescending tone—that nearly everything contained nuts or had cross-contamination risks. What made the encounter even more troubling was watching what appeared to be vanilla meringues being taken from a Trader Joe’s container and added directly into the display case. At the same time, another customer was questioning why a pastry cost more than it had previously—something I had also seen mentioned in earlier reviews regarding pricing inconsistencies. El Paseo is filled with incredible businesses that offer both quality products and genuine hospitality. Unfortunately, this is not one of them. Respect and professionalism matter—and in this case, both were sorely lacking.
Super cute European cafe! Food was yummy and they have so many delicious looking pastries. They do try and upsell you on getting more food and drinks though
I. Town for the weekend and wanted to walk up and down El Paseo drive. I felt like having a cappuccino and stopped in with my friend. I ordered a cappuccino, a chocolate chip cookie and three pastries to go as they looked amazing. $44 later we left and I was thinking for $44 this cappuccino and cakes better be phenomenal! Well sadly they were not. I ordered a lemon tart, apple tart and raspberry cake. I was told they were all “fresh!” Not likely. We got home and the raspberry cake may have had fresh raspberries at one time but I don’t know when that was as the icing came apart from the dry cake and the filling was bland, jam would have more flavor. The lemon tart was so dry it came apart and I have no idea what was on the inside but it looked disgusting. The slight lemon flavor was detectable but barely. My apologies for my unfriendly tone but this was sinfully bad. The apple tart was like biting into a sugar cube I had to spit it out. I am so disappointed with this experience and lastly the cappuccino was ok. A little sting in the coffee side and not enough foam but it was palatable.
