KYO Brooklyn
326 Tompkins Ave, Brooklyn, NY
Crema's Take
“KYO Brooklyn is a vibrant community gem that prioritizes intentional connection over hustle culture, with a strict no-laptop policy that keeps the space reserved for genuine conversation and presence. Their creative seasonal drinks like the gingerbread latte and strawberry matcha are worth exploring (though matcha purists may want to ask for specifics), and their French toast with fresh jam paired with a smooth cortado or house mocha makes for the kind of cozy brunch that feels both special and unpretentious. Warm, colorful, and welcoming with genuinely kind staff, it's the rare Brooklyn spot that feels like a true neighborhood refuge rather than just another coffee destination.”

A beautiful space in our community I love the aesthetic & the selection is amazing. I came in for a tiramisu latte & french fries but after I paid I sat I saw a sign that said no laptops & all the rest of the seats were occupied so I was unable to sit and have a snack and do some work. I wish I saw the sign sooner so I could have made a better decision that afternoon EDITED TO ADD Thank you for your response! I think what would help would be a sign at point of purchase at the register that explains your policy that there are communal tables in the back for working while you enjoy your beverages and food. Not as a surprise after you make a purchase and sit down and noticed the m acrylic square on the table. There’s no mention of your policy anywhere else. Not sure if that’s feasible but I think alerting patrons of your policy earlier in the funnel around the point of consideration would be helpful. Thank you so much!
Really cute place! I had a Dulce Latte and it was delicious, perfectly sweet. The staff is very cool and sweet. I had a bite of French Toast too and it tasted sooo good!! The only downside is that the open kitchen does let out a greasy smell that ruins the otherwise perfect atmosphere, they should get better ventilation.
Stopped by for a cozy brunch and it totally hit the spot. We ordered the French toast $6, a bacon egg and cheese croissant $7, a cortado, and the limited edition gingerbread latte (asked for it not too sweet). Everything was absolutely delicious perfect comfort food for a crisp fall morning. I shared my French toast with my boyfriend, and he shared his croissant with me. We left with our tummies full and happy. The staff was super friendly and seemed to know the locals, which made the place feel extra warm and welcoming. The ambiance could be a touch more inviting, but overall it was such a lovely, feel good fall experience. 🍂☕
First time at KYO and I was excited to try their seasonal strawberry matcha latte. If you are a true matcha lover I do not recommend. The matcha was bitter and completely disappeared after stirred. I even ordered my latte with less milk and unfortunately it ended up just tasting like bitter strawberry oat milk. The cafe its self is super cute and the baristas were nice but I'll definitely have to try the coffee instead next time. For the price point of $8 after tax for the drink, I definitely recommend they get a higher quality matcha.
KYO is one of my favorite spots in Brooklyn, such a gem. the interior is warm and colorful, super inviting. My fave drink is the house mocha, and fave dish has been the French toast with fresh jam. Perfect temp/sweetness on drinks, and the food is a great portion and very tasty! Love what the business stands for and always happy to support
