Crema's Take

Savanna Restaurant Lakeview serves up a spirited Latin-inspired breakfast that feels like a culinary adventure, with standout dishes like their Trio Benedict and perfectly executed chilaquiles that keep guests coming back for seconds. The lakeview location and window booth seating create an inviting gathering spot where families, friends, and solo diners all feel equally welcomed, and the attentive team moves with impressive speed even during busy Sunday brunches. While their coffee selection leans traditional (decaf options include a solid decaf latte), this is really a destination for the food and the warm, comfortable atmosphere rather than specialty coffee craft.

First time having breakfast here. A Tuesday morning at 9 AM. The chilaquiles were good, eggs cooked over easy as asked. Asked for decaf coffee and they had no decaf. They did have a decaf late. Nice space. Easy to talk, not too loud. It was not crowded, no surprise for a weekday morning.

Visiting my son in Chicago, wanted something close by for breakfast after church. Found this place, and liked it so much we went back the next day too! Service was fast, and the food was phenomenal. I had a special, peach berry French toast, it was so good! Husband had a fajita skillet, what an amazing combination of flavors! With a side of the best tasting chicken sausage I have ever had. Ordered crepes the next day, son had chicken and waffles. I don't think you can go wrong with anything here.

This place is a gem! I had the Trio Benedict which comes with (1) Llapingacho with chorizo, (2) Carnitas, and (3) Smoked Salmon. My wife had the Chilaquiles. The Trio was exquisite! Such a fun and eclectic mix of tastes! My wife loved her Chilaquiles with the green sauce (which is not too spicy; I would give it a 1 out of 10 on the spice meter, but she would give it a 4 out of 10). She was happy she went with the tangy green sauce. The service was excellent. I highly recommend this place.

We dined as a family of four- 5 and 10 years old in a comfortable booth near the window. There is a kids menu with breakfast and lunch items. My son was crabby upon arrival and the team were so nice and did there best to cheer him up. He left a happy boy! Must get items- Llapingachos! We got this as an appetizer to share. They are delicious potato cakes with 2 per appetizer but you could cut and share. Try them!! I didn't get it but the llapingacho Benedict is next on my list because these were so good. Carrot juice- I love carrot juice and they squeeze it fresh here. Elotes with carnitas The menu is so big with plenty of sweet breakfast/ brunch options and Latin fare. The space is cute, well lit with lots of seating but a popular brunch spot. Recommend visiting on a weekday or early!

We went on a Sunday during brunch time and the place was pretty full and busy. We were seated very quickly and our food was very quick as well. All of the food was delicious. I would highly recommend the chilaquiles as they were definitely the star of our visit. The French toast was perfectly cooked and all of the fruit was extremely fresh. The BLT was really tasty as well. I would definitely return here. Parking is not great but probably doable but I would recommend taking CTA if walking is not an option.
