Crema's Take

Tucked inside the Duniway Hotel in Downtown Portland, this coffee bar opens early and welcomes lingerers with a stylish, inviting atmosphere perfect for meetings or a slow morning. Beyond traditional espresso drinks, they shine with creative breakfast bowls (think spam musubi and keto options) and standout dishes like roasted beet salad and pan-seared salmon, though pricing runs on the hotel-premium side. The pastries and desserts—particularly their yuzu-lemon meringue—are worth the visit if you're in the neighborhood or have a reason to linger over coffee.

I’m not usually a review person and I wish I had seen the reviews before hand but, I’m staying in the hotel and had some food credit . Breakfast was ok . There were only 3 patrons for breakfast but, I was only checked on once. Picked up pepper shaker and it was empty and didn’t have a bottom on it. Came back for dinner with my son and we both were excited for steak with red potatoes , we even added the shrimp for $15 . We got a basic steak ( and they don’t even have steak sauce available ), the “red potatoes “ were the same potato wedges I had for breakfast in the morning not roasted red potatoes and the $15 prawns was a total of 3 undercooked prawns that I sent back to have cooked a little more . For $125 I could have gone across the street to Fogo De Chao for unlimited meat and more .

I don’t understand why this place has a low rating. The Roasted Beet & Berry Salad and the Skillet Crisp Salmon are outstanding, and the yuzu-lemon Meringue dessert is my favorite, and the staff are so kind, I really love this place.

I enjoyed the keto breakfast bowl. The spam musubi breakfast bowl came with so much arugula - not complaining, just surprising. I didn’t enjoy the Duniway omelet very much - the crab cheese filling was too creamy and not very good flavor. The open faced breakfast sandwich was very messy to eat and kind of heavy. We stayed at the hotel and got the breakfast with hotel credits. If we had to pay for it, then maybe I’d give one less star.

We went to Mayrose and had a wonderful experience! Located inside the Duniway Hotel in Downtown Portland, the ambience is stylish and inviting, and the service was friendly throughout. I ordered the Cheese Tortellini pasta and french fries, and both were really good. The tortellini was flavorful and well-cooked, with basil‑hazelnut pesto cream, fennel, blistered tomatoes, arugula, and Parmesan, and the chips were perfectly crisp and seasoned. The rest of the menu looked interesting as well, and the overall presentation and vibe made the meal enjoyable. Prices felt reasonable for the setting, and it’s a great spot for a celebration.

I have to imagine everyone eating breakfast here has food/bev credit to spend. Everything is overpriced and service is underwhelming. The drip coffee is weak and my small mug was only refilled twice, despite the hour we were there twiddling our thumbs. The omelette with Dungeness crab for $25 has a sprinkle of crab inside at best. I got about two bites with crab. No side, only weirdly crushed up potatoes chips on top. Chicken and waffle was good but also not worth the price. Our second mimosa came out after the check arrived. Overall disappointing experience.
