EVO Craft Bakery

Crema's Take

This North Charleston bakery is a serious espresso destination that takes its coffee as seriously as its Brandon's Bread loaves, with a devoted following for their lattes and thoughtfully crafted traditional drinks. The pastry case is genuinely impressive—croissants, focaccia, and seasonal tarts that justify a special trip—making it an ideal morning stop where the quality of both coffee and baked goods is consistently excellent. That said, the experience can be a bit uneven depending on who's behind the counter, so best visited when you're in the mood to embrace the place's particular energy.

i visited charleston for a couple very dreary rainy days in december and stopped into EVO on a particularly rainy day. i wish i remembered the name of the nice person i spoke to who gave me recommendations from the menu. i tried several delightful and delicious sweet pastries and cookies (i think there was a gingerbread or some sort of festive molasses-y spicy cookie i liked in particular) but what really blew me away was a savory sweet potato biscuit i tried. i truly think of that biscuit at least once a week since i tried it in december and absolutely drool. every visit to charleston from here on out must include baked goods from EVO!

First time buying Brandon’s Bread at the bakery. Just superb large loaves. Pics of the best Foccacia I’ve ever had and a delicious wholesome sesame seed sourdough. Just excellent quality.

⭐️ 1 Star – Come for the pastries, stay for the attitude (apparently) My wife and I stopped into Evo Craft Bakery looking for coffee on the way out of town, and wow… what a vibe killer. The lady at the register was so dismissive and loaded with attitude it felt like we were inconveniencing her by existing in the building. No greeting, no patience, no hospitality — just straight-up cold energy. We had our toddler with us (who was excited about the pastries, because, you know… he’s a kid), and apparently that was a crime. God forbid a family walk into a bakery. Also, we hadn’t been there before, so we didn’t immediately know what we wanted. Crazy concept, right? If you’re looking for welcoming, friendly coffee service, this ain’t it. There are plenty of coffee spots in Charleston that treat customers like humans — go to those instead.

I decided to try it out when I was in the area. Took the croissant with creme cheese - and matcha. The cashier girl was very sweet and nice, I appreciate that they also honestly told me that their coffee brand had a bitterness and acidity( I just prefer medium roast and very light acidity), it is just as matter of preferences. But unfortunately there are also bad sides of my experience too: - I found it anti-sanitary to put dough machine right next to the bathroom, with pieces of dough in the floor. My imagination immediately started to pop up the pictures of all the germs that might have flown into the croissant dough. - In early morning (9:30 am) my cream cheese croissant was nothing like freshly backed and crispy as we all imagine it to start your day with. I think they were selling yesterday batch. Very disappointing for a BAKERY where u expect everything be FRESH !

Best bakery in the area. Amazing selection of croissants, bars, tarts and loaves of bread. The latte was amazing as well. I’d definitely recommend stopping by here in the morning before starting your day of adventures or work. Lots of seating outside and parking nearby.
