Crema's Take

Nubia Cafe is a bustling Mediterranean and Egyptian spot in Anaheim that's earned its loyal following with authentic dishes like lamb shank and hummus that keep people coming back. The energy here is electric—expect a packed house filled with people enjoying both the food and smooth hookah, though you'll want to arrive early or embrace the crowd. It's the kind of independent cafe that's built its reputation over years by delivering genuine flavors and a warm atmosphere that captures the heart of Mediterranean dining.

This isn’t a fancy hookah lounge, and it can get pretty busy. But if you’re into just smoking hookah and chilling, it’s a solid place.

We had a great time at Nubia Cafe. The BBQ chicken, lamb shank, rice, hummus, and cucumber yogurt were all tasty and well-prepared. The hookah was smooth and enjoyable, though the air ventilation inside could be better, especially when it gets busy. Service was a bit slow at times, but overall it’s a nice, cozy place to relax and hang out with friends.

This is absolutely unacceptable. This is the second time I’ve found hair in my food at this restaurant. Once is bad enough, but twice shows a complete lack of hygiene, care, and respect for customers. It’s disgusting, unsanitary, and dangerous. If the kitchen cannot maintain basic cleanliness standards, then they should not be serving food to the public. People come here to enjoy a meal, not to worry about whether they’ll find hair or worse in their plate. Restaurants are supposed to follow strict food safety guidelines, and this place clearly doesn’t. It makes me seriously question what else is going on behind the scenes if they can’t even keep hair out of the dishes. I will never be coming back, and I strongly urge others to think twice before eating here. There are plenty of other restaurants that actually care about their customers and their reputation. This one clearly does not. Absolutely disgusting and unacceptable. Zero stars if I could.

From the moment you walk in, the warm and inviting atmosphere makes you feel right at home. Their menu is a beautiful mix of Mediterranean classics and authentic Egyptian dishes, each bursting with fresh flavors and rich spices. The grilled meats are tender and perfectly seasoned, the seafood is fresh and flavorful, and the traditional dishes like koshary, molokhia, and falafel taste just like home cooking. The portions are generous, the presentation is vibrant, and the service is always friendly and attentive. Whether you’re here for a hearty dinner with family or a relaxing tea and dessert with friends, Nubia Café offers an experience that leaves you satisfied and coming back for more. 💬 Highly recommended for anyone who loves authentic, freshly prepared Mediterranean and Egyptian food!🇪🇬

If you know, you know!! Nubia Cafe is one of those spots that’s been around forever for a reason. We came here around 7pm and the place was already packed, inside and out. There’s a constant buzz of people catching up, music playing softly in the background, and lots and lots of hookah!! This is a true late-night lounge. The kind of place where you don’t just eat and leave, you really hang out. For a long time. I feel that more people need to know how good their drinks & food is though, aside from just the hookah!! We ordered mint lemonade, sugarcane juice, and Karak tea to start. All three were legit, but the Karak was the standout!! Creamy, spiced, and strong without being bitter. For food, we got the lamb shank kabsa, chicken kofta plate, and arayes. The lamb was fall-off-the-bone and flavorful, sitting on a huge bed of seasoned rice. The kofta was juicy and well-spiced. Arayes were crispy on the outside and stuffed with ground meat… simple but satisfying. We ended with the kunafa cream, and honestly, that alone is worth coming back for. It was huge!!! Gooey, warm, and sweet without being too heavy. I LOVED THIS!! This place isn’t fancy, but it doesn’t need to be. It’s consistent, it’s full of life, and it gives you exactly what you came for. Definitely one of Anaheim’s most iconic late-night spots.
