Crema's Take

This Jamaica Plain gem strikes that rare balance between a serious specialty coffee destination and a neighborhood gathering spot where everyone feels welcome. Their signature drinks like the orange latte showcase real creativity, but the real magic happens in the pastry case—think kimchi and cheese croissants, street corn croissants, and cardamom buns that prove they're not just chasing trends but executing them with genuine skill and generosity. The energy here is inclusive and lively, with a diverse crowd that keeps the place buzzing from opening bell, and it's clear that every visit lands you something worth waking up early for.

Amazing locally owned coffee shop in Jamaica Plain. The lemonade is delightfully tart. Coffee is yummy. Friendly, inclusive vibe with good service and a diverse clientele.

There’s usually a line to order but it is worth! The orange latte is a must order and so is the kimchi and cheese croissant. The guava and cream croissant was also delicious! Will need to come back to try other pastries and the focaccia (after noontime)!

So yummy! Lots of vegan options - I got the street corn croissant and the (non-vegan) brown butter chocolate chip cookie. If you like your CCCs soft and sweet, you’ll like this one, not so much chewy and crispy. I went around noon on a Saturday and there was only one person ahead of me in line, nothing was sold out, and it was easy to find a place to sit.

I’m not vegan, but I still thought the pastries were excellent. Highly recommend the Orange Cardamom bun — they don’t skimp on the cardamom. The street corn croissant was also quite good. I thought the kimchi cheddar croissant was only okay (didn’t get much kimchi flavor), but it was still an interesting combination worth trying. Super inventive pastries; definitely come by if you’re vegan!

I've been on a bakery rampage lately, and Third Cliff Bakery was next on my list. I always go at opening, and this was the first time a bakery had a line before doors even opened, which surprised me. Doors opened right at 8 AM, and the overall wait wasn't too bad (~10 minutes). There is timed street parking out front, and the inside has a few tables with high ceilings and a nice mural. I ordered a few items to share: - Kimchi & Cheddar Croissant: I was most excited about this because it was a unique flavor, but the inside didn't actually have that much kimchi. It wasn't bad, though--just didn't wow me as much as I wanted it to. - Buttermilk Family Croissant: This croissant was also just okay. Very flaky. - Pain au Chocolat: I liked this one. Can never go wrong with chocolate. - Orange Cardamon Morning Bun: This one was good, but the person I shared it with felt it was too cinnamon-y. - Pumpkin & Candied Ginger Cake with Maple Icing: I liked this. I would have preferred if the icing was less sweet, but the cake was very moist. Overall, I'm happy to have tried Third Cliff Bakery, but it wasn't the best of the bakeries that I've checked out recently (maybe I'll try a drink next time). I do think the prices are a little bit on the lower end relative to the pastry sizes, though, which is nice.
