Crema's Take
“Tucked into Sonoma, this beloved neighborhood spot excels at turning casual coffee into a reason to linger, with locals returning again and again for thoughtfully prepared breakfasts and a genuinely welcoming patio that's perfect for everything from solo mornings to group celebrations. The kitchen shows real care in details that matter—from perfectly cooked eggs to standout items like their wild mushroom scramble and coconut passion fruit waffles—making it the kind of place where friends and families naturally gravitate for unhurried meals together.”

My wife and I decided to celebrate Valentine’s Day a day early. The Sunflower Cafe was recommended to us by a local we met at the community garden. We were pleasantly surprised to be seated in a delightful outdoor patio. Juan, our server, was especially attentive. I ordered the kale and chicken salad, and Betty ordered the avocado and chicken toasted cheese sandwich. We ordered the stuffed piquillo peppers for an appetizer. All were delicious and we took nearly half of our food home. Sonoma is nearly an hour from our home, but we will be back for special occasions.
We came here for a birthday lunch on a Saturday around noon with a party of three and waited about 10 minutes to be seated. We ended up on the patio, which was honestly the best part of the experience. It felt like a little garden with lots of greenery, water fountains, and heaters, and it was a really nice place to spend a leisurely lunch. We ordered the pecan bacon waffle and the biscuits with eggs. Both were fine but not very memorable. I also tried the sesame and matcha latte, which sounded more exciting than it actually was. Service was friendly but not very attentive. Our water glasses were never refilled during the entire meal, which stood out. Portions were also on the smaller side for the price. I know this is Sonoma and things are generally expensive, and it feels like people come here more for the ambiance than the food, but the value just didn’t quite line up. Overall, this was a solid three-star experience for me. If you’re staying around Sonoma Square, food options are limited, so this works if you’re prioritizing atmosphere and location, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for the food.
Sunflower Caffe was a stop in on a road trip back home. Friendly and fast service. The breakfast sandwich was good, especially the bacon, and the eggs were cooked well. The wild mushroom scramble was solid, and the Arnold Palmer was refreshing. Staff was friendly and efficient. Would stop by again.
Sunflower Caffé provides a pretty nice and aromic atmosphere to have brunch on a rainy day in Sonoma County! They had outdoor shaded seating with heaters to keep you warm. Servers were also very kind and friendly as well, checking up on you very frequently! I got the Matcha Latte and Turkish Eggs, which were delicious! The Matcha Latte was very strong and decorated, and the Turkish eggs had good level and spice, sweet, and savory flavors in the dish. I would definitely come here again!
This is the amazing all around. The food was incredible. There were 7 of us and we all tried everyone’s choices and they were all fantastic. The coconut passion fruit waffle was the crowd favorite and the zucchini bread was the best we’ve ever had. The service was fantastic-our server was so friendly. And the atmosphere is so charming and beautiful. We’re going back again during our trip - highly recommend!
