Crema's Take

Tucked inside a stunning historic building with original marble and granite details, Fera's is the kind of neighborhood spot where the owner Susan actually works the counter and remembers your order. Whether you're grabbing a quick, budget-friendly sandwich between meetings or settling in for a longer sit with a coffee, the genuine warmth of the staff and surprisingly affordable menu make it easy to see why coworkers keep coming back.

This is my go-to lunch place for me. I work at Fountain Plaza, so when I forget to pack something for lunch, I usually head here. It’s the cheapest sandwich place in the city, or at least near my specific location. I know other coworkers go to a few other places I will not name, but those other places charge a minimum of two bucks higher or more for the same sandwich. They always have people in there, which is a great sign. It’s inside the Electric Tower, so there’s a nice lobby to walk through to get to their cafe. The employees are always so sweet, and they make sure to get your order correct - which is awesome, considering how many places don’t really care if your order is right! I really appreciate that - they double check your order before starting it. It’s a basic cafe, and they serve up the typical sandwiches you’d expect. I’ll be honest, I’ve never ordered anything but sandwiches, so I don’t know what else they offer! The size of the sandwiches is something else I like. They are not enormous, and can't fit your mouth around them, NY deli style sandwiches (which are great, but there’s a time and place for everything!). These are the perfect size, with the perfect ratio of bread to filling, at least to me. I want to be able to finish the whole sandwich without feeling like I overate or am stuffed to the gills. So the portions are the correct size, regardless of what anyone else might say. My go to’s are a basic turkey with mayo and lettuce, or a hot corned beef with swiss and mustard on rye. I can’t speak for the other items, but if they are as good as those two, then you can’t go wrong! Oh, and there’s always a Dad joke written on their board above the soda!

Menu lists a TUNA salad. No other info. Nothing about what other items are in the salad. Tablespoon of TUNA. Literally. Called to speak to restaurant about same. Owner, Susan, was uninterested, unconcerned and snippy with me. I will not order from this establishment again.

Lovely cafe. Had a great chat with the owner who works there and she was so friendly and helpful. The food was nice and affordable. The building is absolutely gorgeous, old school marble and granite - from a more opulent time. Highly recommend this spot.
