Crema's Take
“Fontainhas is a cozy Indian café in Brooklyn that's earned serious devotion for its cutting chai—reviewers can't stop raving about the perfectly balanced masalas and spices that keep them coming back. Beyond the exceptional tea, you'll find a charming, softly lit space with comfortable booth seating that's perfect for lingering over house sandwiches, cakes, and a full menu spanning breakfast through dinner, though arriving off-peak hours is wise since the intimate room fills up quickly. The warm service and relaxing ambiance make it an ideal neighborhood spot whether you're meeting friends, working on your laptop, or simply unwinding near Brooklyn Bridge Park.”

Loved the tea! It was warm, spicy, and very good. The sandwich was also tasty. Service is friendly. Seating is hard to find during peak hours. Do not skip the cakes!
I love visiting this Indian café in Brooklyn—their cutting chai is truly the best. The masalas and flavor are so perfect that I keep craving it. Since it’s so close to Brooklyn bridge park and pebble beach, I enjoy grabbing a chai and taking a stroll by the water. It’s also a very cozy café where you can log in to work or enjoy a perfect brunch with your journal, just being yourself with your thoughts. I tried their avocado toast too, and I love how they infuse Indian flavors into many of their dishes. Their menu is incredibly unique. The avocado toast was really good, but the cutting chai is what stands out for me—it’s the perfect drink for soulful winter afternoons in New York City.
The cafe’s soft lighting, charming interior, and modest furnishing created such a cozy and relaxing ambience. The service was also great, and the food was delicious— the tomato soup and chili cheese toast was very flavorful albeit heavy, but definitely planning to come back for that! So addictingly good 😋
The house sandwhich was amazing, The bhel salad was a little bitter for my liking and the cutting chai was very well made. Service was extremely slow as it took over 35 mins to get our food but the place itself has a really cool vibe to it and is nicely decorated.
Very airy space with comfortable booth and cushion seating to work or chill. There’s a full cafe and bar menu, including beer, wine, daytime pastries and plated food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Best masala chai I’ve had. On the pricier side but worth it. Small shop with interesting curated selection too.
