La Colombe Coffee
1335 Frankford Ave, Philadelphia, PA
Crema's Take
“This sprawling Philadelphia roastery has finally joined the wifi era, and it's become an even better destination for lingering over meticulously crafted drinks in their lively, genuinely friendly atmosphere. Beyond their signature tap menu creations, their warm tea lattes and matcha drinks shine just as bright, paired with excellent pastries that make this as much a gathering spot as a caffeine destination. The chill vibe somehow absorbs crowds without feeling chaotic, making it equally perfect for serious work sessions or unhurried conversations with friends.”

Very hip place with large sitting areas. I enjoyed the lively atmosphere with excellent taste of drinks. I know tap menus are signature but I enjoyed warm tea latte menus as well.
I’ve always hated how this place didn’t have wifi. I’m back in 2026 to comment THEY FINALLY HAVE WIFI! THIS IS NOT A DRILL. But also I’ve always liked this place because the coffee is one of the few brands that helps me feel awake and the food is mostly good. If you buy coffee beans from here, they give you a free cup.
Coffee Shop No. 527 La Columba Workshop Philadelphia, VA July 31, 2025 I don’t usually visit multiple locations of the same coffee chain. Once I’ve had the experience, I like to move on—unless something truly stands out. La Colombe’s Workshop in Philadelphia caught my attention because, well, it’s a workshop. I expected a higher level of craft, attention, and maybe even a touch of coffee magic. Things started off promising. The young woman at the counter was warm, cheerful, and persuasive enough to convince me to try their Draft Latte S’mores. I was already in a good mood after a great stop at Persimmon Coffee earlier, so I took her suggestion and added a cortado to my order as well. Both were “for here.” Because, let’s be honest—a cortado always tastes better in a glass or ceramic cup. My draft latte arrived first in a plastic to-go cup. No problem. I noticed the barista behind the counter chatting with friends. I waited for a pause in conversation and said politely, “Excuse me.” She looked at me, so I knew I had her attention. “Would you mind putting the cortado in one of those glasses? They taste better that way.” The look she gave me could have curdled milk. Without a word, she handed me a paper cup and went right back to chatting. To be clear—there wasn’t a line, so it wasn’t a matter of being busy. Here’s the thing: being a barista isn’t just about making coffee. It’s about connection. Small exchanges that turn caffeine into an experience. I don’t expect perfection. I do expect basic courtesy—especially when I’m spending $4 or $5 for a small drink. If you can’t or don’t want to serve a cortado in glassware, just say so. I once had a barista tell me, “They’re for decoration.” I can respect that kind of honesty. Was the cortado good? I honestly couldn’t tell you. It’s hard to enjoy a good drink when the service leaves a sour aftertaste. The space itself is beautiful—open, spacious, and ideal for getting work done. The experience was a toss-up: lovely at the counter, lacking behind the bar. Still, I’ll keep enjoying life one cortado at a time… even when the service falls flat.
Highlight of the place is the chill atmosphere to work in. Coffee was good, but i wish their savory pastries were heated. Sweet potato danish was excellent, but more like pumpkin spice than true sweet potato.
This place is amazing! It was packed, however, the atmosphere didn't feel like it was crowded. Everyone from the food service to the patrons of the restaurant. We're all friendly, the food is amazing!!!! Everything that I tried was very, very good. The decor of the place kind of felt like outdoorsy, woodsy, camp fire like vibe. They have vegetarian as well as vegan options for my family who do not consume meat. They also have cold pressed juices that are fresh, different types of tea, coffee, lattes, and cappuccino. I highly highly recommend that you visit this place. You will not be disappointed ❤️🙌🏽😋
