Crema's Take

Capitola Coffee is a serene escape tucked away from the bustle of Mississippi Street, featuring a stunning private courtyard and spacious interior that feels like a hidden respite. Their espresso is flawlessly executed, and they've earned a devoted following for both their specialty drinks (like the agave oat matcha) and exceptional pastries—particularly their zaatar bagels that reviewers say are worth planning a trip around. The thoughtfully designed space strikes that perfect balance of being genuinely welcoming to laptop workers while maintaining a peaceful, quiet atmosphere that keeps regulars coming back.

Cool atmosphere. Delicious coffee. And pleasant staff. Amazing private courtyard. Respite from the busyness on Mississippi.

Flawless espresso. Quiet space on a busy street. They ask laptoppers limit their time to 2 hrs. It’s a giant space that has a central wall piece and a corner with various flyers, cards, etc. Very clean, quiet spot because whoever designed the space thought to have people enter through the back.

There was plenty of space to sit and enjoy our drinks on Saturday mid day. I really enjoyed that. The agave oat matcha was really good and not too sweet! The staff was very helpful and sweet.

Came for the coffee but would come back every single day of our trip for the bagel, it was so unbelievable. A zaatar bagel with cream cheese, the most flavorful and sun-baked cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, GOOD olive oil, sea salt, cream cheese…holy moly. Bagel was crispy outside and chewy, fluffy on the inside. 14/10.

One of my favorite cafe’s to work/study. Delicious coffee and friendly staff. The building is absolutely beautiful, and a relief from the busy street out front. Interior courtyard stays cool but also sometimes gets some lovely sunshine. Interior is warm and airy with small and large tables. Small tables they ask a 2 hour max on, so if you’re gonna be there longer join the big communal table! Never gotten a pastry but always looks good!
