Compass Coffee
1535 7th St NW, Washington, DC
Crema's Take
“Compass Coffee is a DC institution that's clearly prioritizing serious coffee roasting and production over lingering café vibes, which means you're getting quality espresso drinks from a team that knows their craft. While the Washington location has traded cozy seating for efficiency, regulars keep coming back for both the thoughtful specialty drinks and the kind of customer appreciation that shows through their text-based deals and genuinely helpful baristas like Trish. If you're after a solid morning coffee ritual with a wide range of options—from traditional espresso drinks to creative seasonal lattes—this is your spot, even if you'll want to enjoy it on the go.”

This used to be a really cozy cafe space, but they’ve removed almost all of the previous seating and converted it into a packing facility. The location is now just like any other in-and-out coffee kiosk vs the neighborhood gathering place it used to be. The coffee is still pretty good, plus the snacks (including a variety of local snacks from other companies).
Match and service great , high top seats are uncomfortable and the music is wayyy too LOUD ! I can’t even hear the barista or my friend
I love compass coffee. They are always sending out great deals over text and it really has livened up my morning coffee habit. Shoutouts to marketing! With thats said the reason I keep coming back is because of the people, the team, and the overall kindness especially at this location. Evante is wonderful in the morning. She always remembers me by name and greets me every time. I am guilty of avoiding connection with other by ordering on the app… but I am amazed at how this connection is quickly and gently rekindled. To all those in hospitality especially within the operation I extend a huge thank you! People are complicated and the expectations can be overwhelming at times. If no one says thank you today and good job just know you have a big fan here who thanks you for a wonderful coffee experience most mornings. -Joshua Conner
Tried their small size pumpkin latte today. The taste came a bit artificial to me. The barista Trish was very nice and helpful but didn’t like the pumpkin spice syrup taste. Parking is paid street parking. Plenty of seating inside.
Cute coffee shop I stumbled across walking around the city. They have breakfast items as well as drinks. Wide variety of coffee, teas, & juices. The cashier was very helpful in me picking what I wanted. I tried the Matcha lemonade & it was pretty good. I prefer plain matcha but this was a nice mix to it. I’ll have to come back to try their other drinks.
