Crema's Take

About Coffee consistently outperforms every other café on the Upper West Side by treating espresso with genuine respect—regulars rave about their latte and macchiato, and visitors rate it the best coffee they've found across multiple NYC shops. The vibe is refreshingly unpretentious: stripped-down décor, real mugs instead of paper cups, and a serious focus on what matters (the coffee), not the Instagram-ability. If you want excellent, no-nonsense specialty coffee without the fuss, this packed neighborhood spot is absolutely worth seeking out.

What to expect

Best coffee on UWS. This is my go-to spot, I’ve never had bad coffee here. Also, if you’re a coffee snob make sure you go to this place. It’s not too fancy looking but it’s always packed because great coffee speaks for itself.

We visited the café and ordered a cold brew, a hot mocha, and a chocolate croissant. The coffee was excellent—rich, smooth, and very well-prepared. The croissant was fine, though nothing particularly special. Overall, it’s a nice spot with fair mid-range prices.

Some coffee shops offer a lived in, restaurant type atmosphere. This place is set up as if they think they may have to pick up and run at a moment’s notice. Some table, some chairs, mostly bare walls. Two women working very hard behind the counter, charging prices you would…
