Crema's Take

While Luzy's Tamales is primarily known for its authentic Mexican food and butcher counter, it's a genuine neighborhood gathering spot where you can grab unexpectedly excellent fresh pastries and traditional Mexican beverages alongside some of the most adventurous tacos in Michigan—think lengua and tripe prepared with real skill. The casual, family-friendly vibe and genuinely helpful staff make it feel less like a quick grab spot and more like a place regulars return to again and again, whether they're stopping in for a perfectly baked empanada with their morning coffee or hunting down hard-to-find cuts most places won't offer.

Good fresh Mexican products. I did not like the bread. The butcher is greatm the tacos are the best in town. I get the tongue and tripe tacos just because they are rare to find in Michigan. My husband gets the steak it's not too lean we enjoy it like that but I know some people don't.

Good tostadas at a very good price! Only disappointment was the shredded beef tostada was not "shredded" but more a just an asada (small cubed beef/steak) which was chewy and some not edible, which is exactly why I never order it. I would go back and try other items as the pastor tostada was good.

First time in this very authentic store! Loved it! Staff members are very helpful and answering all the questions. Tried sweet bread today and empañadas. Very good, freshly baked!

Love this place! Large variety of items and friendly employees. They have the best tacos I've ever had! Top taco is Asada, bottom is Lengua. Onions and cilantro on it with slices of lime and two delicious salsas on the side. They also have some of the best tamales, which I'm very picky about! Half a dozen large tamales for only $11.99! Their menu is also very easy to read. Will definitely be a repeat customer! Pictures taken today, 2/5/25.
