Crema's Take
“Ovenbird Kitchen is a revelation for bagel lovers on the way between Asheville and the Blue Ridge Mountains, where the dough achieves that elusive perfect lightness that keeps customers calling them the best bagels they've ever tasted. Beyond the exceptional bagels, they've mastered the full craft bakery experience with standout scones, sourdough, and macaroons that make stopping here feel like discovering a well-kept secret rather than a quick grab. The combination of serious baking skill, warm hospitality, and strategic location on the Swannanoa route has made this small spot a genuine destination worth planning your morning around.”

My wife and I found this on google maps as we were leaving Asheville. We wanted a light breakfast and decided to get some bakery items to go. This place was right on the way and we decided to stop here. At first we were a bit apprehensive because of the building and the fact that they only had a few items out. We were VERY pleasantly surprised. We got a couple items and everything was good and very reasonably priced. We have been to bakeries literally all over the country and this is one of the best, even better than the hyped up bakeries in LA and NYC. Very unpretentious and like I said, affordable. If you are in Asheville you need to go here!
Stopped in for a bagel this morning as I was heading to Asheville, and I was seriously blown away by how delicious it was. Hands down best bagel I’ve ever had in my life! The dough felt very light and soft but also had an addictive chew. You could tell the flour was also very high quality as it had an amazing toasty, yeasty flavor. Hats off to the bakers - they have mastered the craft!
A wonderful new to me bakery. Delicious scones, macaroons and sour dough bread!
Simply amazing bagels. We were staying in Asheville and I looked online and many bagel shops in the area and Ovenbird was the only one with stellar reviews. We decide to visit on our way to Black Mountain. We enjoyed freshly baked bagels with lox cream cheese and chive cream cheese. Great quality products. Also left with a loaf of seeded sourdough bread. Worth the drive from Asheville for great quality bakery.
Fantastic coffees, bagels, breads, and sweet treats. I was so thrilled to see this place thriving. Stop in and get one of their amazing scones or freshly toasted bagel.
